Kaleideum Inspiring wonder, curiosity, and lifelong learning in our children and community through interactive For more information, visit www.kaleideum.org.

Kaleideum was formed by the merger of The Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem and SciWorks on July 1, 2016. Kaleideum Downtown (formerly the Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem) was founded by the Junior League of Winston-Salem and opened its doors on November 20, 2004. Kaleideum North (formerly SciWorks) was founded by the Junior League of Winston-Salem and opened its doors as the Nature Science Ce

nter in 1964. The two museums began talks of a possible collaboration in early 2015, with a new mission of “Inspiring wonder, curiosity, and lifelong learning in our children and community through interactive play and discovery.” The merged entity combines the features of both museums – blending arts, literacy, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) orientations into an integrated approach to learning.

Save the Date for the 2023 Kaleidoscope Ball!

The Kaleidoscope Ball supports critical operations that allow Kaleideum to meet our mission of inspiring wonder, curiosity, and lifelong learning in children and our community. Eureka! Learn all about some of the world’s most incredible inventors during Little Innovators. Read a story about the inventions we use every day and create some exciting projects inspired by our story.

Little learners get a head full of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) with these interdisciplinary and hands-on activities. Designed for curious preschoolers, these playful activities focus on themed materials and then expand outward with storytelling, project-based learning, science, discovery, artifact viewing and classroom exploration.

Many of us are already familiar with the famous hidden figure Katherine Johnson!

Katherine Johnson was an American mathematician whose calculations of orbital mechanics as a NASA employee were critical to the success of the first and subsequent U.S. crewed spaceflights. She had a reputation for mastering complex manual calculations which helped pioneer the use of computers to perform the tasks.

Johnson's work included calculating trajectories, launch windows, and emergency return paths for the Project Mercury spaceflights.
Her calculations were also essential to the beginning of the Space Shuttle program, and she worked on plans for a mission to Mars. She is an important part of our modern day understanding of space.

Our second day of gratitude is for all the wonderful people and businesses that helped our first Children's Business Fair be such a huge success through their sponsorships!

Three of the most important ways these sponsors helped: we were able to keep the vendor fee extremely low so anyone could join, we were able to purchase t-shirts for all the young entrepreneurs, and we were able to give away $450.00 in prize money!

Kaleideum North, we thank you for believing in all our young entrepreneurs by providing them a venue and tables to show the public what our young humans are truly capable of doing!

Greater Winston-Salem, Inc., we thank you for sharing the news with so many for the first-ever Children's Business Fair to be held in Winston-Salem! The live session with FOX8 and the beautifully done video series and live coverage by WXII Jackie Pascale of WXII 12 NEWS took our event to 11!

Triad Sports Management, Dr. Bryan & Dr. Cheryl Freeman - Randolph Center for Dental Excellence, GIII Construction, LLC, we thank you, along with all our individual donors, for being Friends of the Fair and donating $100.00 or more to help sponsor a young entrepreneur!

We hope you were all inspired by these young leaders, innovators, and business owners!

We look forward to seeing you all again next year at our SECOND Annual Acton Children's Business Fair!
LOOK AT THIS TURNOUT!!
I’ve already gotten emotional here at the Acton Children's Business Fair at Kaleideum North🥲 Getting to know so many of these young entrepreneurs and seeing their businesses in action has been incredible.
Fair goes until 12PM! Full story to come tonight on WXII 12 NEWS😊
TODAY'S THE DAY!🤩 The Acton Children's Business Fair is finally happening in Winston-Salem -- 10 AM at Kaleideum North! Want to remind you of the first entrepreneurs I introduced you to before the event:
So proud of this Wonder and young entrepreneur! She was in my Grade One class at the independent school where I formerly worked.

Tomorrow is the big event! Come join us at Kaleideum North from 10am-12pm for the first ever Winston-Salem Acton Children's Business Fair.

You will be amazed by our 22 young entrepreneurs!

Laser shows at Kaleideum North? Yes, please!

One of the best places to go on a rainy day in the Triad. Of course, we had to check out some of the other fun exhibits as well!
One more sneak peek into what you will find at Acton Children's Business Fair this Saturday from 10 am-12pm at Kaleideum North!

Thank you WXII Jackie Pascale for helping these young entrepreneurs share their WHY with the world!
Thank you, WXII Jackie Pascale for giving the public a taste of what treasures they will discover at our Children's Business Fair.

Who will be the NINE young entrepreneurs that will win their age category for award money totaling $450.00?

Join us on Saturday, February 26th from 10am-12pm at Kaleideum North to find out!
Learning MUST look different today to respond to the changing needs of our young learners (heroes) in an ever changing world.

Heroes still need the basics of reading, writing, and math. However, it SHOULD look different than from when you went to school.

Did you discover all about how to be an entrepreneur when you were 6, 8, even 10 years old? Did you take that knowledge and apply it to the real world? At Expedition: An Acton Academy, our heroes do that every single day.

Join us on Saturday, February 26th from 10am-12pm at Kaleideum North for the first Children's Business Fair in the Triad.

You will be amazed at the products and services these 22 young entrepreneurs have to sell. Our founder and Head of School will also have a booth set up to chat with you about how we can reimagine education together!

Come grow with us in our new Winston-Salem location. We are now enrolling heroes ages 4-7 for our Spark Studio and heroes ages 7-12 for our Discovery Studio.

[email protected]
These sweet 12 year olds are some of the kindest kids I’ve met. Ellie and Gavin are sure to be a loving addition to a forever family one day and that’s why we partner with Children's Home Society of NC to ensure children and teens get adopted! Kaleideum North was a great host to explore and learn.

A place to call home airs every Thursday on WXII 12 NEWS at 6pm! Tonight is Ellie’s story.

Ps- They thought it would be funny to be taller than me in the photo☺️ (and it didn’t take much!!)
THANK YOU to Kaleideum North for inviting our S.E.E. students on an "out of this world" adventure! They got to have a pillow snowball fight, build with foam ice blocks and ice skate in their socks. They even got to touch a tire from a shuttle that went to space! 🚀 🚀

For kids who are blind or visually impaired, tactile exhibits and interactive displays are accessible ways they can learn new things.
Drumroll please...

...Announcing the judges we have secured for the competition portion of our Children's Business Fair! These judges will be scoring our 22 young entrepreneurs across three age divisions for "Most Business Potential," "Most Creative Idea," and "Most Impressive Presentation" for a total of $450.00 in prize money!
