From the Archives: An Epic Valentine’s Day Card
For #ValentinesDay — an animated look at an epic card sent to Katharine Reynolds on February 14, 1913.
These cards within cards begin on the envelope itself and almost certainly housed a sprig of rosemary in the final card saying, "Rosemary's for remembrance friend, / And for good wishes without end, / So may each day your long life bless / with fragrance of your kindliness." The herb is often associated with Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love.

This week, we’re joining in with cultural institutions all over the world on social media for #MuseumWeek.
Today’s theme is #OnceUponATimeMW: After Reynolda House was a home to the Reynolds and Babcock families, the house was once leased to the Piedmont University Center, which coordinated work efforts between 17 different colleges and universities in the region.
In September 1965, then Barbara Babcock Lassiter opened the 1917 home to the public for tours. Tours were held morning through evening on Wednesdays and by appointment only.
Visitors got a chance to take in many choice works of art lent by the Babcock and Bagley families, as well as private collectors including “Lime Banks” by Andrew Wyeth, a head study by Anthony van Dyck, and “Church at Froschhausen” by Wassily Kandinsky (none of which are a part of our collection today).
