After intense thought and discussions with art professionals across the country, I have formed a decision on HUE exhibitions for 2020. The 2020 calendar year of brick and mortar events is getting postponed until further notice.

As there is no clear answer to when events that usually accumulate hundreds of attendees will be allowed to happen again, which is directly for everyone’s safety during these times of COVID… I feel it would be wrong to have artists from across the country bring their works to a gallery that can only accommodate what looks like possibly a maximum of 10-30 people at once to view their works, until likely the fall, in its current state of governing mandated restrictions. As a gallery that has consistently brought in 200-1200+ attendees per month for shows, this was a very real scenario to ponder upon.

So, I am postponing all 2020 exhibitions until further notice. There is no reason to keep pushing these shows forward month by month and messing with the artist’s calendars, and my own calendar, until society is closer to normal again.

Do not feel I am cancelling all things HUE related or closing the gallery, that is far from reality. I have been doing everything in my power to ensure the gallery will not close this year and can happily say it is now just a waiting game until society is back to normal again. Thankfully, this has involved selling art masks to help keep everyone safe and to provide the funding necessary to keep the gallery operational without the traffic. If you feel like supporting the gallery during this time, purchase one of the masks from www.seanchristopherward.com to do your part to get society back to a point of normal operation again. I am in the works of including artworks from all the exhibiting artists of the current calendar year, so that you are able to support them directly, as well!

If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out to me directly. My email is [email protected]

Hello, art world!

I just wanted to take a second to update everyone. I’ve been actively speaking to all the artists on the 2020 calendar year in regards to what shows are happening, what’s getting moved, etc.

Well, I have some good news! There is only one change occurring!! The June exhibition of Lewie Wilkinson, aka LaserLewDude is getting moved to a later date. I did not want to have the grand opening of the gallery at a time when there is so much unrest in the world, even though Kansas is doing better than many states out there. We are currently finalizing the new date. It will either be October or November. I offered him my month, then Adam offered his month as well.

If social events are allowed to happen again in July, then Tati Holt will be the exhibition we will reopen the gallery for! It’s all TBD, but I promise you. I will give you more than enough notice either way!

Stay safe out there, everyone.

Sincerely,

Sean Christopher Ward

A quick announcement.

A lot has changed in the last month. The completion of the remodel has been delayed. Access to the building has been lost. A stay at home order has been issued.

Through all of this struggle, my passion for the arts has not diminished. I am, however, going to be pro-active, in order to keep everything realistic.

I have already pushed Ashley G. Garner's Æsthesia: Opening Reception to August. I am pushing back Laser Art Photography by Lewie Wilkinson: Opening Reception to June. I cancelled the projection mapping throwdown and I'm delaying the Immersed in Art show until further notice.

Sunset Shows, being a group event, are also getting completely thrown for a loop. I have decided I am going to refund everyone's tickets for the year, until we have a better idea of what the new calendar will be. I am closing eventbrite from accepting new ticket orders. When society gets back to normal, I will create a new calendar for the shows. Don't worry, I still want to give everyone a date to play, it just might involve pushing many of the dates back to 2021, as I only do one sunset show per month, and I do not have the money to continuously advertise events, when they may get cancelled. I am, by no means, saying Sunset Shows are cancelled, they are just delayed for now until further notice.

I am also in process of converting HUE Gallery Ward, LLC to a Non-Profit Organization during this down time. I am looking for assistance in getting a lot of questions answered about this, so if you know anyone who is an expert in this, please forward them my information. My email is [email protected].

Thank you for everyone understanding that the art world is in a fluid state right now. Any support you can provide during this time, is greatly appreciated. HUE Gallery is my only remaining source of income and it's doors are closed right now until further notice. I still have artwork for sale and can still make custom commission pieces. Just e-mail me at [email protected] with any inquiries you might have.

Forever yours in the arts,

Sean Christopher Ward

Great news! HUE Gallery of Contemporary Art finally has an assistant again!

I am very happy to welcome Michella Tripoli to the team. Michella will be your go-to connection for public relations of the gallery and upcoming events.

Michella Tripoli has been an instructor at Pinot's Palette since 2016 and displayed in galleries throughout the city over the years. Her unique style of painting animals, designs and people , alongside her desire of helping her fellow artists fits perfectly within our mantra at HUE. As an active artist in the community of Wichita, she is bringing a brand new perspective to the gallery to help us become the best HUE we can be! In December, you can actually see her solo exhibition, Transcending the Former Self - Michella Tripoli Exhibition, in the newly remodeled space, as well!

Feel free to contact her directly at [email protected] with any questions about upcoming exhibitions, if you want a flyer delivered to your business or simply to inquire about her own artwork. We are very proud of all she has accomplished over the years and look forward to her working alongside us at HUE.

With the soon to be re-opened HUE Gallery of Contemporary Art and the fully immersive tech-driven experiences, we are now moving forward with ticketed admission for all of these experiences. You can book and pay for a time slot directly on facebook. Each time slot is 30 minutes and ticket prices range from $5-$8 to experience each exhibition.

Now, for those of you who do not have $5-$8, we are offering FREE ADMISSION on First and Final Fridays from 4-10PM!!! We cannot guarantee as much of a private experience, as you would get with ticketed admission, but it's free and open to the public on these days, so come on out and enjoy yourself!

The first exhibition of 2020 is Ashley G. Garner's Æsthesia: Opening Reception. Through this exhibition, you will be using all your senses to take in this relaxing experience that was created in every degree from flora. For more details, visit the event page.

Monday, February 10, is the last day to apply for this exhibition! Announcements of selected artists will go out immediately after, as I only have two weeks left in town until I have to go to San Francisco for an art fair.

Tag your local artist friends, so they can apply if they haven't seen this yet! I'm going to tag a few folks, as well, to start the trend. 🙃

11 days left to apply! This is a local juried exhibition that will debut in the newly remodeled gallery space!
