Harvester Arts is a nonprofit arts organization in Wichita, KS founded in 2013. Harvester Arts offers thoughtful, high quality visual arts programming that engages the community through critical dialogue and the creation of new work. Through our exhibition programming, discussion forums, and online presence Harvester aims to reinforce Wichita as an art destination on the national level and thereby

enrich our local arts culture. As an independent space, Harvester has the freedom and flexibility to respond to current trends and react to timely events. Local creatives (Satellite Artists) access the Resident artist’s creative process and create new work in response via satellite exhibitions, essays and events.

📢 Attention Wichita Creatives! Join Us for What Works! 📢

What Works is a free workshop based on sharing the the common behaviors of successful artist entrepreneurs and speaks directly to artists’ concerns in building sustainable careers. These tenets are based on working with thousands of artists of all disciplines and are the basis of the Artist INC program.

Saturday, January 20th, 1pm at the Wichita Art Museum.

No registration necessary - we'll just see you there!

What Works is the basis of the Artist INC program. In this What Works Workshop, Artist INC Peer Facilitators Kristin Beal and Mina Estrada will share these tenets of Artist INC as well as personal/professional examples of their own and leave artists ready to apply them to their own art practice.

The workshop includes discussion of:

✅ Goal setting and planning
✅ Portfolio careers and multiple income streams
✅ Communications
✅ Strategic networking
✅ Financial planning
and more

The last thirty minutes of the workshop is dedicated to Q&A, allowing for direct interaction between the artist peer facilitator and the local artist community. What Works is presented in collaboration with Harvester Arts.

Did you hear the HUGE news?

Announcing a $75,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), Harvester Arts is partnering with the City of Wichita’s Division of Arts and Cultural Services and visiting Artist-in-Residence, Aaron Asis, to facilitate the creation of “A City Where I Belong: A Toolkit for Artists.”

City of Wichita, Harvester Arts, and Asis have assembled a cohort of three local artists to analyze and interpret the City’s ‘Percent for Art' program and public art commissioning processes, deploy temporary art engagements that collect feedback from the public. The paid artist cohort will incorporate their findings into a public artist toolkit that will expand access and address barriers to enter the public art field for local artists.

We are ecstatic to announce the selected artist cohort! Doing this impactful work alongside project partners are:

Micala Gingrich-Gaylord, visual artist and community advocate -

Ric Dunwoody, visual artist, skateboarder and muralist -

& Priscella Brown-Sexton, visual artist, muralist and musician -

We can’t wait to share more about the cohort and their work over the coming months as “A City Where I Belong: A Toolkit for Artists” comes to life. Until then, check out a bit more detail on each cohort member in the comments!
