How Art Happened

Having no background in art whatsoever, not even in high school, this new passion for painting with pastels was wildly unexpected. Loving the feel of writing on chalkboards I painted one onto my office walls. One day, in July of 2019, I drew a forest scene. My Great-niece happened to come over, saw it and talked me into posting it on Facebook. Hours later my oldest sister informed me that I was to draw her three pictures. I said, “but I only draw on the chalkboard”, thinking she couldn’t possibly be serious. Two days later she brought me over 3 boxes of pastels and a huge ream of black construction paper. That was over 50 paintings ago. I bought more pastels, a writing board, big clips to fasten premium pastel paper with, and more. And here I am, a few months later with an online art gallery offering professional prints of my work.

The moral of the story: there's life after going legally blind.
