Biodiversity Day!

Friends, today is #BiodiversityDay! Did you know that while the ocean constitutes over 90% of the habitable space on the planet, only 1% of the world's oceans and seas are protected? By comparison, 12% of land area is protected. Scientists estimate that 25% of all marine species live on coral reefs, which makes them one of the most diverse habitats in the world. To learn more about #biodiversity and marine life, check out Voyage to the Deep: Underwater Adventures, a traveling exhibition from Australian National Maritime Museum.

For today's #MuseumWeek #PhotoMW , here's a lovely photo of museum architecture. Montréal's Biosphere Environmental Museum is located at Parc Jean-Drapeau in the former United States pavilion for the 1967 World Fair, Expo 67. The museum's geodesic dome was designed by Buckminster Fuller. Flying Fish staff visited in May of 2018 and enjoyed their time exploring this museum inside and out. A highlight was the rooftop viewing area.
