Pictured Rocks State Park, Michigan. Colorful mineral deposits, clefts in the rock face, green seaweed barely visible under a cobalt blue still surface. All at sunrise and captured by Louise Osada with a masterful use of a palette knife and rough brush. An example in 1966 of Cubism with hints of abstraction and Fauvism. Most popular on FEMALE ARTISTS IN HISTORY and most often requested for prints. Professionals on that site rave about it and one said he could look at its nuances for an hour.

"4th of July" Louise Osada circa 1966. Brilliant Abstract Expressionism. We think of the 4th of July as a dark night highlighted by sprays of colorful fireworks. Louise turns this thinking around, featuring a background of reds, yellows and oranges. Then the fireworks are added with tendrils of blue/black. The observer is persuaded to see things from her point of view, as contrary as it seems.
