The TB Ferguson Home Museum was the home of 6th Governor of the Oklahoma Territory and founder of the Watonga Republican. TB was also a founding member of the board of the Oklahoma Historical Society. Visitors of this museum are able to view the home as it was at the turn of the century. This home was built in 1901. Some objects available for viewing include: curved glass windows, TB's typewriter, Watonga's original jailhouse from 1893, US Calvary relay station from 1870, and the amberina glass window used for security purposes. We welcome all guests, and if you are coming through when we are not open feel free to call the museum and we will try our best to accommodate you. Please remember there is no cost to visit, but donations are accepted!

February is Black History month, this is usually the time of year in school when we are taught about Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, the 13th Amendment, and the Civil Rights Movement and people such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, and Harriet Tubman.

This coming week, February 25th and 27th-29th during museum hours we would like to focus closer to home. We will be displaying the very roots of the black communities, schools, and churches as well as honoring some integral people of the generations since the settlement of this area.

As we are closing in on the Cheese Festival time, I want to invite everyone out to come visit our site! We have several events taking place! As usual, we will be open for guided, interactive tours where you will learn about the rich history of T.B.Ferguson and his impact on not only the town but the entire state along with the local culture of the time.
There will be 3 sessions of authentic Butter Making given by Louise Griffin, Friday 11 AM & 2 PM, and Saturday 10 AM. This is educational and fun for all ages!
Also, Friday and Saturday we will be hosting a Flea Market that will be located on the empty lot just north of the museum. There is still plenty of space for more vendors, if you want to sell it, come set up with us! Anyone interested can call the Museum for more details or contact Louise Dunn.
Last but not least, we will be getting crafty and kicking off Fall with Scarecrow Making where you will get to pick out your own life-size scarecrow's outfit and stuff him/her with straw for decorating years to come!

I visited this site on Saturday, 9 September. I planned my trip so that I could be there before it closed, which is posted as 3:30PM. I arrived at 2:30 but unfortunately, it was not open. While I was disappointed, I did enjoy viewing the grounds which are well-kept and maintained. I'm sure there was a good reason for it being closed but maybe next time I will call before I go.
