Pat Morrissey for Waterloo City Council, Ward 3 Re-Elect Pat Morrissey for City Council, Ward 3, Waterloo, IA. I’m Pat Morrissey, and I’m asking for your vote this November 7, 2017.

I was born and raised in Ward 3, Waterloo and I’m passionate about making our city a great place to live. I believe in people-first policies. I will continue to host ward meetings, investigate concerns of all types and support policies that make our neighborhoods safe, bikeable, walkable and beautiful. I have delivered and will continue to deliver on my promise to work hard for my neighbors in War

Clinical Residency at Independence MHI (1974)
Chemical Dependency Counselor,
Cherokee MHI (1976 - 1979)
Waterloo Area DHS as Child Abuse Investigator and Dependent Adult Abuse Evaluator (1979 - 2010)

Worked alongside law enforcement, juvenile & criminal courts, school systems, social service groups/agencies and MOST importantly families, children, those with disabilities and the elderly. Helped found and worked as Chief Steward for the state social worker’s union – Iowa United Professionals. Volunteer and Special Projects:
Restoration of the Historic Kistner Building in downtown Waterloo. Founding member (2012) and Board member of the Cedar Valley Bicycle Collective. Member and activist of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement. Student in learning of the Highland Bagpipes since 2011 and on the pipes since Dec. 2012…in kilts since Irish Fest 2013. Member of CARA (Sponsors of Waterloo’s Iowa Irish Fest). Member Grout Museum District

Protecting Neighborhoods and Livelihoods:
Helped pass a Domestic Abuse Ordinance, banning landlords from evicting domestic violence victims. Got a Payday Lender Ordinance passed, restricting their locations Investigated noxious odors and activities at request of citizens. Helped stop development of salvage yard near Airline Highway. Helped stop a liquor store from going in at University & Ansborough and full bar at West 5th and Allen. Co-sponsored resolution in support of our city employees and their right to collectively bargain
Co-sponored resolution supporting “local control” Bringing City Hall to the People

Bringing City Hall to the People:
Hosted more than 43 monthly Ward 3 meetings, with 5 more coming
Participates in neighborhood association meetings (Church Row, Maples, Edison, Riverfront)
Active member of Church Row Neighborhood Association and Revitalization Group

Clean Energy: Let’s develop a city plan to promote sustainable and renewable energies
Whitewater Course & Marina: Re-purpose our river to promote fun and health activities. Fair Chance Act, Human Rights/Civil Rights Issues
Keep public safety fully staffed, trained, and equipped. Pass responsible budgets, moving our great city forward
Continue development in Logan Plaza and Broadway Corridor areas
Push to make University Avenue functional for all and a quality corridor
