Capitol Crossing is an upcoming, mixed-use development that will connect the Capitol Hill and the East End over 3 blocks of I-395. Capitol Crossing marks a compelling, shared future of community revitalization, environmental harmony, and economic growth for our nation’s capital.
The realization of L’Enfant’s original plan for Washington, D.C., the 2.2 million square feet of office, retail, residential and open space will, at long last, unite the East End and Capitol Hill by replacing our city’s most visible physical scar – the I-395 Center Leg Freeway – with a vibrant new neighborhood. Capitol Crossing, which is expected to be completed by 2021, will transform seven acres of previously unusable space into a distinctive cityscape spanning three blocks. It will feature state-of-the-art office buildings punctuated with 70,000 square feet of world class retail shops and restaurants connected by lush gardens. promenades and bicycle lanes in a new “eco-district” that boasts a “beyond LEED Platinum” certification.
