Paul Mellon Arts Center

Paul Mellon Arts Center A complement to PMAC, Colony Hall serves as a space for community and The Arts.

The Paul Mellon Arts Center at Choate Rosemary Hall is home to a recital hall, main stage, fine art studios, music classrooms, practice rooms, scene & costume shops, and more. At the dedication of the PMAC in 1972, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and Choate alumnus Edward Albee ’46 christened the spectacular I.M. Pei-designed facility “an auditorium of ideas.” Today, the description seems as apt

as ever. Please review our terms of digital participation: http://www.choate.edu/social-media-participation

During spring break, the Choate Rosemary Hall Orchestra traveled to Seoul, South Korea 🇰🇷, where they were invited to learn about hanbok and its cultural significance while exploring historic sites such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Jogyesa Temple. The group visited museums and markets and immersed themselves in Korean culture through music, food, and performance. The trip concluded with a shared concert at Gabin Art Hall featuring the Seongbuk Youth Disabilities Orchestra and the Choate Rosemary Hall Orchestra, bringing a meaningful week of cultural exchange and music to a close.

Last month, the Arts Department welcomed 7x GRAMMY®‑winning recording and mixing engineer Brian Vibberts to campus!

During his visit, Brian joined students in a Music Production class to give project feedback, hosted a Q&A with Arts Concentration students, and participated in this year’s Choate In Session, where students learned from an industry professional to help elevate their music. We’re grateful to Brian for sharing his expertise and helping our students dive deeper into music production.
