Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties A free museum and educational center committed to social justice. Admission is free.

The Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties is located in a historical building in downtown Riverside, California, that was renovated and restored by the Riverside Community College District. The building is home to the collected artwork and archives of Japanese American artist Miné Okubo, the author of Citizen 13660. Our mission is to preserve, exhibit, and enhance the Miné Okubo Collection,

and to use this unique resource to inform the public about social justice and civil liberties issues. Through presentation of Miné Okubo’s life and work, as well as exhibitions, programs and digital archives that broaden awareness of social justice and civil liberties, the Center provides an ethnically diverse, 21st century American populace with insights into the American experience, both past and present.

THIS!!!! Join us on Thursday afternoon, October 17th 3:00 p.m., for a talk with Cahuilla Native American visual artist, educator, and culture bearer, Gerald Clarke!

Clarke will reflect on the complex challenge North America’s Native peoples manage daily within a network of federal, state, and local governmental realities. Through a particularly articulate practice of art-making, Clarke’s own perspectives evolve at the same time that Indigenous peoples strive to determine their own ways forward.

The talk is part of the The Museum of Riverside's exhibition, Dear Riverside, A Letter to Our First Love, on view here at the Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties.

FREE and Open to the public! We hope to see you Thursday!
