Why is my favorite island not on the finished product? We have an answer!
"This is on a very per-case basis, but depending on the complexity of the lake and the size of the lake, some islands and humps are just not going to make it. Either they are too small and are burned away during cutting, or there is just not enough area for glue adhesion. They could also have fallen through the honeycomb during the cutting process."

A few months ago I made these signs for and . They didn't ask for them, but I made them anyway. I did it for a few reasons. First of all, I had some scraps lying around that were either too nice to throw away or just still had some use out of them. And I want to start making signs for people and businesses. The second reason I made these signs, was because I love both of these shows and everything Lindner Media Productions has put out over the last couple decades. The information that they give for free is damn near irreplaceable. So as a consumer of their product I wanted to give them a thank you.
I didn't do this for recognition, I didn't ask them for any money or compensation in return, I didn't tell them to post anything or to tag me in anything. It was purely a gift from a fan. I have done this in the past for other people and made them maps or signs or whatever and I never expect anything in return.
Fast forward to a few days ago and I get a letter back thanking me for the signs and it was signed by Al Lindner himself. This is very special and I will keep this letter forever.

If your cuts look like the left, your laser is set up wrong. I believe that is due to two possible issues. Either your air assist is wrong, or your focus is wrong. Or both. After I move to my new shop and have a little bit of free time I'm going to make a video and do some testing and give scientific proof of you being wrong. That's aggressive but probably true.

What is the Clear Acrylic Cover? We have an answer!
"That is a sheet of clear acrylic that will go over the top of your lake map but sandwiched inside the frame. It is just like a piece of glass on a picture frame but it will not crack or shatter during shipping. This will protect your map and will also prevent dust buildup inside."

I completely forgot posting about these. I made these coasters for the intro to ice fishing event. That event ended up getting postponed until next year because of the terrible ice conditions we've been having this year. I was going to wait to post these until after the event but since it's a year from now most people will forget about them so I can post again next year. They are 3.5" coasters and i etched out the lake and filled it with Razzo tinted teal. I sanded them flat and then then I put them back in the laser and I etched out the LMM logo and fill that in with black razzo. Send it again throw some finish on it put the feet on it and call it a day :)
Next year when the event happens there are 50 of these that will be going to the participants. I'll post some videos about this later.

Sometimes I make these really awesome maps and then I take awesome photos of them and then I send them off to their awesome new owners and I never share those photos with you. And that's a shame. So here's one that I completely forgot about but is awesome. It's the on Lake Superior just out of Bayfield, WI. I think this is pretty cool and you would be pretty cool if you shared this photo.

Over the years I've had several different iterations of this kayak hoist, and this is the easiest I found. A 110 volt winch, a few pulleys, and some tow straps. I have stored this exact kayak in my ceiling like this for the last 4 years and there has been zero cracking deforming or denting. The month of June was wild. I moved to a new house and subsequently a larger garage and I have room to grow my business now. Along with that means I have a bigger yard so I had to buy a lawn tractor. Also, during the move my laser broke so I had to diagnose what was wrong with that. Also I ran out of almost all of my materials for making the maps so it took a while to build up that inventory as well. And then I took a vacation and went to Canada with my wife for our anniversary. All in all it was ridiculous, very busy, and I got behind. But everything seems to be back to normal and I am fully operational. Got a few backorders to take care of, but we should be all good. This is a map of Pipestone Lake. It is much different than the normal maps I do. Since Pipestone is not mapped, my next best option was to do the contours of the land around it. After seeing the actual lake with my eyes, these contours do not illustrate how ridiculous this terrain is. And if I had contours of the lake it would be equally ridiculous. It's really hard to see because these phones are pretty good at adjusting for sh*tty lighting, but my human eyeballs are great at seeing that this is a huge upgrade. I now have eight LED light strips in the ceiling rather than the three mishmashed soft white bulbs that were up there before. This is a huge improvement. They're the ones I had in my old garage and I took them down specifically so I could bring them to this new house.
Playing around with different origin settings. I used to use the blue tape and it was fine but you would have to re-cut an outline every single time. I wish I could do an origin on the lower left hand corner because that would be convenient and easy to reach but the laser head would be in the way after every single job is finished so that is also a no-go. So I have now set the origin to the upper left-hand corner and I cut out a reference piece of wood so I can just index my new pieces right up against the corner of that and it's going to be perfectly lined up every single time. Usually i just use blue tape to align but it was very important this time to get everything perfect. Had to cut 90 panels for 10 different maps.
If you're going to have an AI image you should probably at least say that it was generated by AI. Cuz if you don't you look silly when you are blatantly wrong.
Found the perfect storage solution for my Wagner Flexio 3000. It's going to be much better from now on.
