A little about me...

I have been creating jewelry since 1989, starting with earrings I made from seashells I collected on the beach, Over the years, my jewelry changed dramatically as I taught myself, then took metalsmithing classes to create more permanent and intricate pieces. Because of my unusual route to learning jewelry making, my work developed a unique look. I used to worry that my jewelr

y didn't look like that of traditional jewelers until I realized that's what made it special. Now I think of myself less as a jeweler and more as an artist who happens to make jewelry. I often get inspired when I'm kayaking or hiking, or even gardening. I'll see this hidden rhythm under the chaos of nature and want to put the essence of it into my jewelry shapes. I hope it reminds you of your own creativity and the beauty of life all around us.

Join me June 21-25 for a "Swirls and Swoops" Jewelry Class at Snowfarm . The best part is it's part of their Art and Wellness Retreat - spend your mornings making jewelry and afternoons doing yoga, meditation, talks, practices, or working in open studio. This class explores the meditative nature of working with hammered wire, working with intention and following your inspiration. And as always at Snowfarm, there's delicious healthy meals. Come feed your mind, body, and soul at Snowfarm.

Some of the amazing pieces created by the students at my bezel workshop at Snow Farm last month. You guys rock!

Our Story

A little about me... I have been creating jewelry since 1989, starting with earrings I made from seashells I collected on the beach, Over the years, my jewelry changed dramatically as I taught myself, then took metalsmithing classes to create more permanent and intricate pieces. Because of my unusual route to learning jewelry making, my work developed a unique look. I'll see this hidden rhythm under the chaos of nature and want to put the essence of it into my jewelry shapes.

After 6 wonderful years at the Noank Foundry, I am currently working from home while I search for a new studio. In the meantime, you can still find my work at Wesleyan Potters in Middletown, CT and Brookfield Craft Center in Brookfield, CT. I continue to teach jewelry workshops, most recently at Snowfarm, the new England Craft Program, in Williamsburg, MA. I'm grateful people respond to my "whimsical, wearable art". I hope it reminds you of your own creativity and the beauty of life all around us. -Mary Anne
