Debby Brisker Burk is a mixed media painter, and native Washingtonian, who enjoys travel and working in her studios in Potomac, MD, Rehoboth Beach, DE and Miami Beach, FL. She has been creating artwork since childhood and her early visits to the great Washington D.C. museums with her sister artist had a profound impact on her artistic journey.
Her paintings have been shown and collected nationally and internationally in the U.S., Caribbean, India, Egypt, Israel, Russia, Canada and Argentina. The work has been reviewed by The Washington Post, The City Paper, and The Cape Gazette, Artfolio, among other publications. Debby's paintings are also on file in the American Archives of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C.
The holiday season is quickly approaching and we're once again excited to have ornament holders from Julie and Ken Girardini on display at the gallery!
They say, “We are self taught and pride ourselves on creating each and every piece by hand. We have deliberately chosen to make a living with our hands and minds and have done so for the past 22 years. Our primary medium is cold rolled steel, but we add curiosities like glass, brass, copper, paper, and wood to keep it interesting.”
Turn these amazing pieces into a new holiday tradition for your family.
We are honored to host one panel of the AIDS Memorial Quilt throughout October in partnership with the Maryland Ensemble Theatre's run of Angels in America Part 2. Started over 35 years ago by activist Cleve Jones, the quilt serves to honor, remember, and celebrate the stories and lives of those lost to HIV/AIDS.
The panel will be on display in the gallery through October 29.

Think outside the box when it comes to your art choices! We've got plenty of three dimensional pieces that can really stand out in your space.
Two of our favorite artists are seen here. Todd Andrew Babb concentrates on line and form over detail and aesthetics, Babb’s elongated and oftentimes abstracted bodies portray this adaptation of the human spirit.
Because Ancizar Marin's figurative forms are relatively inexpensive, collectors are encouraged to purchase multiple sculptures at a time. For Marin, this achieves his desire to have the figures engage with one another in dynamic groupings that can be arranged and rearranged at will.
"Daily Life" Exhibition featuring Patricia Weise.
There's still plenty of time to see us and our exhibit "Daily Life" featuring the work of prize-winning Connecticut artist Patricia Weise.
Patty paints in gouache and watercolor, creating intimate still lifes and interior spaces dealing with daily routine and memory. The paintings in this exhibition are a part of a continuing body of work she is calling the Dishdrainer series.
The exhibit runs through October 1, 2023. More information: https://www.districtarts.com/patricia-weise

This is the final week to come see Robin’s “Truth” exhibit, on display at DISTRICT Arts until August 27.
