Undiscovered Classics "Undiscovered Classics & Forgotten Fiberglass..." We find, research, restore, show and sell America's lost automotive treasures..."

Forgotten Fiberglass - Our Material Matters: Forgotten Fiberglass is a bunch of passionate car guys and gals. No blue blazers here (not that there's anything wrong with that). Though we tend to work on our cars, many of us are writers, researchers, historians, collectors, and restorers. Above all, we are automobile enthusiasts. We're here to discover, recover, and return to the road some of Americas most interesting forgotten cars. Geoff Hacker and Rick D’Louhy take the wheel most of the time, but a good crew is always in tow. So jump in and take a ride on our website. There's something for everyone who loves cars and the fascinating histories of the people behind them.

COME SEE OUR 1937 GOUGEON STREAMLINER ON DISPLAY NEXT WEEKEND IN NORWALK, CONNECTICUT:

Our 1937 Gougeon Steamliner will appear on Saturday June 8th, 2019 at the "Show Cars From The Sea" extravaganza. This is the second time that the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, Connecticut has held this automotive "aquatica" themed event and we are honored to participate.

In 2018 we shared our 1962 "Shark" Roadster and 1956 Bangert "Manta Ray" Show Car. This year we'll be showing our 1937 Gougeon Streamliner nicknamed the "Whale" and our 1954 Frazer Custom known as the "Orca Special." The flyer for the event is also shown in the photos below. You can learn more about the cars participating and the organized event by clicking on the following link:

Hope to see you there for a great day at the second annual "Show Cars From the Sea." And...be sure to come on by and say "hi."

Finally getting Paul's debonaire on the ground for the first time. Ever. It still has a long way to go but here we can get a general idea of the stance and look. This car was originally delivered in the back of a pickup truck in pieces... not a fun start.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: The restoration of our 1975 Bucci Executive begins with a bit of suspension work championed by our friends at Clanton Welding.

Hue, Nick and Joe are rebuilding and upgrading the twin axle suspension and framework up front. Next is repair of the translucent ceiling which is designed to rise up and tilt open and is motor driven.

Never a dull moment here at Undiscovered Classics in Tampa, Florida.

First car up on the chopping block. Measuring the body for consistency while getting the wheelbase and track width figured out for our first of three upcoming tube chassis.

Anyone know what it is? Hint is it was a creation from a famous flathead speed part manufacturer.

It seems lately some photos of the transporter have been popping up recently notably from @marcowingnutz @tradspeed and @hotroddeluxemagazine so here it is... transporting for the first time in a long while. Waiting for the owner to be able to move forward. Anyone who knows Geoff knows he is more motivated than anyone but we all know life can get in the way sometimes.

Current plans are to undo the lengthened chassis and back to its original inception while fixing the underlying engineering issues. No small task.

Let's see if someone can guess what its transporting...

Another welcomed addition to our arsenal of tools and equipment. Our very own modular fixture table is finally finished. Took a few weeks to create and its well worth the effort. weighs in at 2800 lbs measures 60" by 120" and consists of 20 .625" thick steel plates for the top with 90 .630 id holes on each for a total of 1800. We're very excited for the first project coming soon...

MODULAR FIXTURE TABLE - WE'RE OFF AN RUNNING AT JR'S SPEED SHOP:

The guys at JR's - John, Pete and Cade - just finished their modular fixture table which will enable them/us to scratch build what we need for chassis work, new chassis' and more.

Some of the upcoming projects are shown at their shop below including our 1959 Cheetah "Moon" Transporter, a Meteor SR-1, a Byers SR-100 and a Woodill Wildfire. I can't wait until we see what they can do with their new tool/table.

Go get 'em JR's....and keep those projects running strong.

WORK CONTINUES ON BRIAN FORD'S 1952 GLASSPAR G2:

One of our Undiscovered Classics "artisans" is Tom Cook, and you'll see his interior work - and more - in the photos below.

Tom created the interior for Brian Ford's Glasspar G2. He's also created the interior for our cars including the Leo Lyons Custom Mercury and the Bangert Manta Ray. His talents have no limit.

Tom has fitted the windscreen and posts and is now working on the Glasspar G2 hardtop so it can be correctly attached to the body with style and elegance.

Go get 'em Tom - the Glasspar G2 sports car is looking great!

Kyle Feller's Work Begins on his Almquist Speedster.

Kyle is assembling this a bit with hopes to put it up for sale so that someone can take this car and fully restore it. He's strengthening the body and making repairs and is planning on glassing in the doors to give the body strength.

His final step will be to attached the body to the Fiat Topolino chassis that came with the car and prep and paint the chassis too.

We look forward to seeing his progress in future posts. Go get 'em Kyle :-)

Jim Scudder's Byers SR100 at the La Jolla Concorde D'Elegance Tour:

Earlier this week I heard from Jim Scudder and a recent appearance with his Byers SR100. Jim wrote,

"Hi Geoff, A friend saw this in Auto Week this morning. My son and I in our 1959 Byers coming up the hill at Torrey Pines for the La Jolla Concorde D’Elegance Tour."

What a beautiful photo of Jim's Byers SR100 this is. You can read about the entire event in the following link:

Thanks to Jim Scudder for sending this in.

THE "EXECUTIVE" IS HOME:

As day broke over Tampa, Florida we quietly slipped the "Ex" or "Executive RV" next to my house. I'm sure the neighbors and those that drive by won't even notice the new addition stealthfully slipped next to our fence.

We have some cleaning, repair and tire replacement to do before the "Executive" is moved into storage. Then we can plan out its restoration in the near future which will be fun to share as well.

Thanks to all of you who helped enjoy our trip and car recovery together. Comments and messages were fun throughout the trip.
