Happy Easter. Missing udate on CatMan2!😽
Update on the Goings On here at Catman2!
As many of y’all know, our founder Dr. Harold Sims has been struggling with some medical issues that have left him feeling less than stellar for several months.
Tomorrow he will have surgery that will hopefully give him a lot of relief! At almost 87 years old, he is still eager to get back to his old self and get back to working on projects that matter to him like the museum! He’s in great hands with a great team of docs who want to help him get to feeling better.
Please send him all the good vibes and well wishes for a successful surgery and uneventful recovery. I’ll update when I can! ❤️🩹
Enjoy these recent photos of Harold from a mini documentary my talented friend Josh is making about the shelter and museum 🙂
(The availability for appointments at the shelter and general ability to commit to much will certainly be impacted due to caregiving, so please bear with us while we balance everything out!)
Edit to add:
If you’d like to send Harold a get well card, or a donation in his honor to either Catman2 or The American Museum of the House Cat/WNC Cat Museum, you can send them here and I’ll make sure he gets them:

ILoveCats is very happy to hear that is doing so well and working his way through Kitty Fit Club! Sounds like he has some pretty wonderful humans helping him in his health-quest at Catman2 Shelter😻! The American Museum of The House Cat WNC Cat Museum
Hi Dr. Sims! My husband and I from PA came across your museum while vacationing in NC. Although we were disappointed that it's currently closed, it was a true delight to explore the outside! We have 6 cats as well as a black cat-themed bathroom, featuring a library that includes a book called "The Black Cat Made Me Buy It." The book is a compilation of ads with black cats, just like some of the ones posted outside of your museum. And I am a veterinarian working at 4 spay/neuter clinics, including Forgotten Cats in Willow Grove, PA. We hope to return to your museum someday. Stay safe and well!
As some may already know we have lost the admin privileges on The American Museum of The House Cat business page. Find out why by clicking our blog post link below and how you can stay up to date with our new page, the WNC Cat Museum.

You guys, I met someone incredible in my travels in North Carolina who needs help and needs his story told! Dr. Harold Sims is a philanthropist who spent his retirement working on the Catman2 Shelter, a private, no-kill, cage free shelter. He found that no shelters near him in North Carolina were no-kill (and they all had less that ideal accommodations for the kitties), so he opened his shelter to save these cats while also helping to control the pet population in North Carolina. In 2017, he opened WNC Cat Museum with an incredibly impressive collection of cat-related items that date back for hundreds of years. The proceeds from the museum go to help the kitties at the shelter and his wildlife rehabilitation center there. Dr. Sims is concerned about keeping his legacy alive for many years to come after he passes, so they are working to develop an endowment fund for the future sustainability of his great legacy, including his shelter and museum.
You can help in a few ways:
1- Please share this and help Dr. Sim's story be seen by the right people!
2- If you can donate to CatMan2 and Dr. Sim's legacy, it would mean the world to him. You can do that here:
https://www.paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/3587764
http://www.catman2.org/donate.html
3- At the time of his death, he would like to bequeath his ownership to an updated 501 C3 corporation that will hold the title to the museum and the land. Anyone that can help provide legal advice would be much appreciated.
4- If you're in his area of North Carolina, utilize his low-cost spay and neuter services.
5- If you know anyone interested in working first-hand to help keep his legacy alive in any way, please message me here or at maloriemackey (at) gmail (dot) com or the good people at CatMan2 and the American Housecat Museum.
I was incredibly inspired by Dr. Sim's vision, and I hope you are, too. I am going to work my butt off to help his legacy live on and share this on all my media outlets, but please reach out if you have any ideas or want to help with this, too!
