Good morning. Most of you have probably heard about the fire that occurred at the cafe early yesterday morning. Everett and I would like to thank everyone for your well wishes and prayers. We’re so thankful no one was hurt and Everett’s art was spared, thank God. It’s too early to know when we will be back up and running, but we’ll keep you posted. A special shout out to one of Surry’s finest, Officer Lane, whose training and intuition identified the problem and quickly contacted the fire department. Had it not been for his actions, the fire would have done so much more damage. A shoutout also to Ray Phelps and the Surry Volunteer Fire Department. They stayed on the scene for over 6 hours to make sure the building was safe. I don’t know about any of you, but I’m so proud to be a part of such a loving and caring community. We might not get everything right, but we get “caring” right and that’s what makes us strong. Surry is Something Special. Thanks for caring.
