So much that’s new to read. End your October by reading two months worth of features on the website. That’s right, there are now four new highlights to read. We have the Savior of France, Joan of Arc. The first woman to complete the Seven Summits, Junko Tabei. The woman who made the flag that inspired the Star-Spangled Banner, Mary Young Pickersgill. And the English court painter who was born without arms or legs, Sarah Biffin. Head to www.womeninwarmuseum.com to read all about them.

In the span of just a week, the world has lost two influential women, whose loss will be felt by all. First was the legendary Dolly Parton, who was not just known for her music but her education activism. Second was Gloria Steinem, who made it her life’s goal to fight for women’s equality. Who knows what the world might have looked like if it weren’t for these two women. The Women in War Museum strives to uphold their work in education and equality. Both Dolly and Gloria will forever be missed.

Originally passed in 1948, this legislation gave women the opportunity to serve as permanent members of the Armed Forces. The Women in War Museum recognizes all of the women who have served during times of war both on the home front and internationally.
