Galerie Bonheur

Galerie Bonheur Galerie Bonheur Folk Art includes works that have also been called outsider, self-taught, primitive, naive, art brut, visionary, and intuitive.

Galerie Bonheur has specialized in collecting and selling International Folk Art since 1980, when owner Laurie Ahner discovered her love of Haitian folk art. The gallery has since broadened its scope to include a myriad of artwork from all around the world, becoming one of the few galleries in its genre to exhibit such an expansive collection. We present art from North America to Central and South

America (Brazil, the Caribbean, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Venezuela), Eastern Europe (Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Russia), Africa, and India. We are proud to represent such artists as John Barton, Milton Bond, Paul Graubard, Janice Kennedy, Justin McCarthy, Mary Whitfield, and Harriet Wiseman of the USA, the Haitian Masters, Amos Ferguson from the Bahamas, and Boscoe Holder from Trinidad. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] or 314.409.6057 for any questions.

Gabriel Bien-Aime, “Fishing Boat”
Recycled Steel Oil-Drum
30 X 24 In
$595
Origin: Haiti

A visionary in his approach, Bien-Aime’s technique is characterized by a remarkable depth and textural richness, setting him apart from the norm. His ingenious manipulation of metal—through intricate folds and meticulously crafted layering—enhances relief, giving his sculptures an almost ethereal presence. He innovatively augments the surfaces with fragments of metal, embracing each piece as if it were a mosaic, to create astounding visual harmony.
