Happy National Nurses Day! Although today starts a week of celebration, we want to thank all nurses for the dedication to the health and wellbeing of others you give year-round. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธโš•๐Ÿ’œ

Tontitown, Arkansas has a history of people in service to others and this country. One example is Mary Maestri ~ pictured below in her nursing uniform, ca 1910. Mary was a woman of many talents. She had a nursing degree and would go with doctors who served Tontitown when they saw patients. Mary also delivered babies as a midwife. Her ability to speak Italian and translate for the doctors made her even more important in her role as a nurse. She later started the beloved Mary Maestri's restaurant with her husband, Aldo. #NationalNursesDay #NationalNursesWeek2020 #ThankYouNurses #CommunityofTontitown #VivaTontitown.
