The Spokane Fire Station Museum established the Fire Department Museum March 15, 1993. The same day the Spokane Fire Department donated materials and equipment to the Museum collection. The Museum has been Located at the Spokane Fire Department Training

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of retired SFD firefighter Lloyd Benson. He passed today, November 24, 2019, in his sleep at the age of 89. Lloyd was a regular visitor at SFD Training and his visits will be missed.

No information is available about his service at this time, but we will pass on information about his memorial as soon as we get it.

Please keep his family, friends, and SFD family in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Tommy Heckler and the Spokane Fire Station Museum Board Members would like to thank all parties, people, and recruits, for their many hours of work contributed to getting the 1959 Pirsch fire engine prepared for display at the 2017 Washington State Fire Chiefs Expo.

It was a great show and we had many attendees stop by the booth.

Retired Fire Chief Douglas J. Rider passed away on March 19 at age 84. He joined Spokane Valley Fire Department in 1954 and served until his retirement as Fire Chief in 1982.

Memorial services will be held on April 21 at 11:00 am at the Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road.Spokane Valley Fire Honor Guard and Spokane Valley Fire Pipe & Drum will participate in the service.

All Spokane Valley Fire Department flags will fly at half-mast from 8 am - 5 pm on April 21 in honor of Chief Rider.

General information

The Spokane Fire Station Museum established the Fire Department Museum March 15, 1993. The same day the Spokane Fire Department donated materials and equipment to the Museum collection. The Museum has been Located at the Spokane Fire Department Training Center 1618 N Rebecca ST., since its grand opening. For a few years the Fire Department Museum was located in the lobby of Fire Station # 1, 44 W Riverside AVE. until a remodeling project caused it to be closed and the collection put into storage. Museum Vision: Heritage through fire service and historic displays and interpretations. Public Safety education through community awareness and outreach programs.

The Fire Department Museum room is located at 1618 North Rebeca street in the Spokane Fire Department Training Center. The Museum Room has historical exhibits and displays of Spokane Fire Department equipment, memorabilia, and public safety education.

In addition to the above :

The Spokane Fire Station Museum established the Fire & Rail Museum, in 1995. Formerly located at 3202 East Queen in the Hillyard business community, on property leased from the BNSF Railway Company.

Fire & Rail Museum now located at 5104 North Market Street in Hillyard. The Museum Train Cars where moved summer of 2016. Our Fire & Rail Museum has a Partnership with Hillyard Heritage Museum Society. The Museum provides historical exhibits and displays of fire and rail equipment, memorabilia and public safety education.
