MAC Teen Interpreters

MAC Teen Interpreters The Teen Interpreter Program 2013 up and going. Our magnificent Teens come from various high schools throughout the Spokane area. Stop by and say Hi!

Teen Interpreters are local high school students who engage MAC vistors through dynamic conversations and interactive activities. The Teen Interpreters will be on the floor of the museum during regular operating hours for the duration of the summer to share their knowledge and enthusiasm about this summer’s exhibits. Stop by the MAC and help us welcome our vibrant student volunteers!

Join us this Friday!

As a community cultural institution, the MAC would like to pay tribute to Som's artistic legacy in a tribute this Friday at BeGin. Mario de Leon will be painting an 8x8 graffiti homage and Lilac Linguistics, a local hip-hop group, will acknowledge Som's work as a musician. We will also provide a donation box for his sons' education fund.

I am Kassy Schrader, a current Senior at Gonzaga Preparatory School. I intend to follow my high school education by becoming a farmer and working toward a more organic earth. After working for three years in the Teen Interpreter program, I've been able to learn and discover so much about not just facts and dates, but also about myself and my love for art, for history, and, most of all, for agriculture.

"Hi, my name is Rachel King. Currently, I am a senior at Mt. Spokane high school, and I also attend Eastern Washington University through the Running Start Program. Some of my favorite subjects in school include chemistry, history, anatomy and physiology, and psychology. I became a Teen Interpreter because I enjoy learning, and I wanted to be more involved at the MAC than simply volunteering in the Carriage House."

Walk into the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture this summer, and you’ll meet teen interpreters and docents. In this time of institutional turmoil at the MAC, the young people remind us how important museums remain for past, present and future generations. Plateau Tribal Teen Docent Program
