Thank you to all of the artists that came out to the "50 Miles to Freedom" event. This includes Sasha Rayevskiy, Kelly Anquoe, Josh Bahne, Jan Meng, and Leland Batty. These are all of the murals that were painted, as well as the handmade sculpture that was crafted for Spavinaw, Oklahoma. This was an excellent way to spread goodwill to the community of a small town.

Even though we got rained out at the Fort Smith Riverfront Skatepark, we'd like to thank BoarderTown Skate Shop for inviting us and taking care of some of our expenses. Our exhibit was open for a few hours that day and fortunately, a few people came through to check it out.

Hopefully, we'll be back to Arkansas in the future!

Some moments from the 50 Miles to Freedom event in Spavinaw, Oklahoma on October 6th. Everybody was worried the rain would end the occasion early but luckily it held out until dusk. We'd consider the whole ordeal a success. ✓

Thank you to everyone that came out!

50 MILES TO FREEDOM: Don't miss the first sculpture in Spavinaw next to City Hall. Master carver Leland Batty has been carving wood in multiple continents for over 20 years. Currently, he's at work on an 800-pound white oak that had fallen into Spavinaw Creek. The process involved moving the tree, hours of digging in clay, and many hours of laborious carving. Please join Leland in the grand finale and watch him apply the finishing touches to this beautiful abstract sculpture. This will be a gift to future generations of Spavinaw residents.

50 MILES TO FREEDOM: Tying into the importance of Mickey Mantle’s birthplace, award-winning cultural historian W. Jacob “Jake” Cornwell will present a visual history about baseball in Oklahoma and the Negro League teams around the state. Also known as “The Horsehide Historian,” Cornwell has discovered what he calls a “history hidden in plain sight” that dates back to territorial days in the 1890s. Additionally, he will be displaying rare artifacts from his Oklahoma Baseball Archive. The hour-long presentation will begin at 1 p.m.

North American Skateboard Express would like to thank the good people of Tulsa for their support and generosity. We'd also like to thank Scott and Gail Kinney of Heritage Events, Art Moore, Alan Jandebeur, Travis Anistine, John Heild, Ryan Crane, and Scott Bennett (Board Room) for their contributions to our exhibit. Thank you Tulsa World, the writer Jimmie Tramel, and the photographer Matt Barnard for the amazing article about our appearance. Also, thank you, Danny Perez, for spreading awareness.

We had a wonderful time and everything was well received. We couldn't ask for a better experience and we look forward to making future appearances in Oklahoma, including the current event at the Indian Summer in Bartlesville.
