South Amherst Village Historical Society Dear Historians, Many members of the Village of South Amherst are interested in its history. We have been meeting to discuss the process of gathering this information, thinking about where it will be stored and how to find the information. We need you! Folks who are interested in sharing stories, researching historic South Amherst information, writing passages and helping interview other community members. Please join us on the 4th Wednesday of each month, South Amherst Town Hall, 103 West Main Street at 7pm or email us at [email protected]. What to bring? • You, and your memories. • Pictures of the village, or even family pictures that may have village settings in the back ground. (Don’t worry, we will make copies) • A friend, who can share memories too. Sincerely, South Amherst Village Historical Society Members.

South Amherst Centennial Celebration
*100 YEARS*
The South Amherst Historical Society, in honor of South Amherst Village’s 100 Year Celebration, produced a 2018 calendar to commemorate it. The Centennial Celebration calendar has interesting pictures of familiar and historic South Amherst buildings and people. The calendar was a work of love and pride, which we’ve reflected in the Centennial Celebration Calendar for 2018. If you are a former or current resident that takes pride in South Amherst you will want this calendar as a remembrance. The price will be $20 for the Centennial Celebration Calendar, plus postage if mailed. Calendars are currently here and will be available for sale and order at the Alumni Banquet July 22nd at the New Russia Township Hall, and as listed below. Calendars can be had by contacting any local member of the South Amherst Historical Society or:
Mail: 48318 Telegraph Rd., Amherst, Ohio 44001.
Email: [email protected]
FaceBook page: South Amherst Historical Society

We would like to ask that you consider patronizing the Sponsors that generously helped support the South Amherst Historical Society with calendar ads. In recognition, a business not on the calendar, for your consideration is Schmitz Consulting, Ph. 440-506-0711, their work is apparent in the finishing of the calendar design and production.

Sorry to pass along some sad news. We lost a part of South Amherst History today, Norma Oetzel. She was 95 and was born and raised in the village. I had spoke to her about 3 weeks ago and she was looking forward to coming to the next meeting of the lifers from town. We have lost a spoken chapter of our history. May she Rest in Peace.
