Just in case you didn't know these interesting facts about Alice Cooper.

Sean Happy B-Day Alice Cooper, who's grandparents were from Uniontown, Alice spent many summers as a young boy in Fayette County (God love him!) and he actually attended for a short time Smock Elementary School! This is all true, he told us this on DVE! Alice is at Stage AE May 20th...He's one of the nicest guys ever...He was drinking a CASE of Budweiser a day in the '70's! And he's still with us! In 1922, the coal workers in SMock attempted to organize in order to get better wages and working conditions. The H. C. Frick Coal Company was so upset with the workers that the company promptly threw the workers, their families, and their belongings out of the company homes. The people, young and o…

A wonderful week-end celebration for the Smock V.F.D. Kick off with a parade on Saturday. Every year the parade grows larger. Residents lined Main Street to enjoy many local fire company's showing off their shining equipment. Saturday night was a brilliant display of fireworks. The Smock V.F.D. never lets us down on their fireworks display. We sat on the ball field and watch gorgeous pyrotechnics for over 25 minutes. Sunday was the Classic Car Show, with nearly 80 cars and trucks. Weather was perfect for the whole week-end. And the ladies auxiliary did a fantastic Chinese auction. There was good food, and games, the Saturday night local band and Sunday's D.J. added to the fun. If you missed this year's fest, you should certainly put it on your calendar for next year.

A big thank you to those local residents that have picked the litter along the road from State Rt. 51 into Smock. Your hard work does not go un-noticed, and it is greatly appreciated. And as noted, we see some kind person is cleaning there most every day.It is a shame that people can not keep their own trash in the vehicle until they get home.

05/22/2014

A big thank you to all who supported the Community Center by baking, or buying or donations to the Bake Sale on election day. We sold all the goodies by 4 pm. And a total of $235.00 was taken in sales and donations.
