World of Horse 2021 review

I just renewed the web domain for World of Horses with some glimmer of hope.

Where do I start...

March was that moment that World of Horses was to be introduced to the country...it’s concept...it’s goal...it’s fundraising...to turn the fortunes of the Horse Industry around.

In the blink of an eye, no one was interested...and if they were interested the distractions caused by Covid where so engrossing...it left no energy left for anyone to get involved with World of Horses. All the planning (four years worth), all the research, all the input from so many was stopped dead in its tracks before it ever got started. Seems to still be true today.

So now where does World of Horses stand...?
We still wait and hope that a time will come soon that our friends in the Horse Industry will once more be able to give time to invest in the future preservation of the horse.
Nothing has changed about World of Horses...It’s waiting at the gate...ready to run the race.

The value that World of Horses can give the Industry will be significant.
The dangers that the Horse Industry faces are still there...if anything...worse.
World of Horses sole purpose is to bring significantly more people the recreational option of horses...
...in the best possible location
...with the highest possible exposure to an interested public
...providing them the education they need to enter the sport with confidence
...and pointing them to the breed and sport that best fits their interest.

The opportunity to make a difference is still on the table...
Don’t let this opportunity pass before it’s too late.

I am personally spent on this project…but if there are a few others who wish to see this through…I will hand it off.

World of Horses 2020 year-end review

What more can I say about the awful year and it’s devastating consequences than each of you already know?

No one anticipated the turn of events that seemed to start in December of 2019 but did not become a truly national issue until March.

March was that moment that World of Horses was to be introduced to the country...it’s the concept... its goal...it’s fundraising...to turn the fortunes of the Horse Industry around.

In the blink of an eye, no one was interested...and if they were interested the distractions caused by Covid were so engrossing...it left no energy left for anyone to get involved with World of Horses. All the planning (four years worth), all the research, all the input from so many was stopped dead in its tracks before it ever got started.

Here we are at the turn of a new year and we are all still distracted by Covid and other national issues that have taken our attention away from the need the Industry faces.

So now where does World of Horses stand...?
We still wait and hope that a time will come soon that our friends in the Horse Industry will once more be able to give time to invest in the future preservation of the horse.
Nothing has changed about World of Horses...It’s waiting at the gate...ready to run the race.

UPDATE:
On March 24th, we went public to share the vision and raise capital for this venture. Unfortunately, the Covid Crisis hit at the same time. Those of you who were interested in helping found yourself distracted by all sorts of other issues related to quarantine. Those who were in a position to participate in this project, found themselves needing to put a hold on funding.
So, we have been biding our time to re-address this project.
In a few days, our national election will be over. Depending on how the election goes, it will affect in some way what World of Horses can do AND the status of the Horse Industry moving forward in general.

The Horse Industry is not in the Horse Business...did you know that?

06/15/2020

Since I have not been able to make any headway with World of Horses because of Covid-19, I will try again soon perhaps with a new Zoom meeting for those who are seriously interested in this project to see if there is a way to move forward...

A brief bibliography...
As long as he can remember there were ponies on the farm, but
In the late 60’s Steves’ dad bought a dude ranch as part of a larger development in Colorado. Paradise Ranch was still operating profitably and it was decided to continue operations. Steves’ mom, along with his sister, Cindy move to Paradise Ranch for the summer. Mom oversaw operations, Cindy rode horses all day and Steve worked with the Cowboys. The bug bit.
After that summer, two of the ranch horses returned to Knoxville TN with the family. It was not long after, that dad decided we needed Morgans because of some good experiences he had had with them on a hunting trip. Thus Tennessee Valley Morgan Horse Farm was started. Steven and Cindy, through 4-H learned how to handle, manage and show horses. Then they decided to become breeders. Over the years, a number of fine quality horses were produced at their little family farm.
Then in 1980 tragedy struck: Cindy was killed. The farm continued on for a while. A trust fund for an award for the Morgan youth of the year was established in Cindys honor (which exists to this day). Steve moved on, changed careers, got married had a family and faded from the horse world.
Five years ago, Steven decided to venture back into the horse world through his carving business. As he reconnected with old horse buddies and started going to barns and shows, he saw a vast change in the horse world. Much of what he saw saddened him.
On bemusing this with a friend, he was challenged to do something about it. At first, Steve did not want to...it was too big a project to undertake at retirement age. But it did not take long to go ahead and proceed. Steve says: “I can think of much easier ways to spend my retirement than doing this, but this project needs to be done”. Many of his friends said he was crazy. The only thing crazy about this is if the horse industry doesn’t see the value that World of Horses can lend to the industry and lets it slip through its fingers...

To my World of Horses friends…
A new partner in World of Horses is Dr. Mitch Wilkinson.
He has an excellent idea that I’m going to ask you to participate in.

The idea is to make a short video that highlights your corner of the horse world and how World of Horses will benefit what you do, your breed or your sport.

So, would you be willing to make a really short video with your horses/ponies with these criteria:

1. Hi, my name is……
2. I live in.... (state, city)
3. This is what I do….
4. I think WOHs will benefit us by….

All in your own words.
Only needs to be a minute or less.

In return, I will promote what you're doing by highlighting your current business on FB and Youtube.

I eagerly await your video…

Last night we hosted the first Q and A online about World of Horses. My expectations were to address questions you would have about the project. But, this was not to be! There were two young girls who both had a problem they were seeking guidance for. One was looking for advice on how to find the right fit in a hunter/jumper pony and the other was looking for ways to help sell her older pony. While this is in essence what WOH is about, I was caught off guard and were not mentally prepared. But Susan and I excepted the challenge. With the help of Elis Hertz and Phil and Best Buchanan (who were also in attendance) hopefully, these young ladies received guidance that will make their journeys successful.
