Also featuring the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, attached to MoMA The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, Socrates Sculpture Park, set against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline in Long Island City, and our neighbor, Storm King Art Center, in New Windsor, Culture Trip goes on to say of Opus 40:

Indeed, that is our mission.

Last weekend, we hosted another FREE Friday Sunset Series concert with Radio Woodstock 100.1 WDST, and an awe-inspiring interpretation of Jesus Christ Superstar by Centenary Stage Company on Saturday.

Next, we have a Sunset Series session August 9 — with live music from Scruffy Pearls, plus food from Buns Burgers and Zora Dora Paletaria, and a table setup from Woods & Meadows CBD Apothecary.

And that’s far from all:

There’s Cuban Jazz and Klezmer with the critically acclaimed Roberto Juan Rodriguez-Cuban Jewish Allstars on August 10, followed on the 11th by a Town Of Saugerties Animal Shelter Benefit with music and food trucks.

On August 17, bring your iPhone or camera for an exclusive Opus 40 photography workshop with the esteemed China Jorrin Photography.

And on August 31, celebrate the changing seasons with us at our Labor Day Weekend Festival with Hungry March Band and Hudson Valley Magazine-Best-Of BBQ from The Grille Wagon food truck.

This past Saturday at Opus 40, the lawn was packed with locals and visitors, who braved the overwhelming heat and threats of thunderstorms to watch an incredible Opus 40-inspired performance of Jesus Christ Superstar by the visiting Centenary Stage Company (pictured).

One of the largest and most beguiling works of art on the entire continent and the greatest earthwork sculpture in existence, according to Architectural Digest, Opus 40 is a vast environmental sculpture park and museum in High Woods, a small hamlet in the town of Saugerties.

Fashioned from an abandoned quarry over a period of 37 years by sculptor and quarryman Harvey Fite (1903–1976), the site was the home of Fite’s studio, garage, blacksmith shop, and, eventually, Quarryman’s Museum.

Opus 40 is an Ulster County MUST VISIT.

As you know, this past Friday was a scorcher. But that didn’t stop throngs of Hudson Valley locals and visitors from joining us on the majestic grounds of Opus 40 for the second week of our FREE Sunset Series with Radio Woodstock 100.1 WDST, this time featuring the all-mighty reggae, roots and dub band Royal KhaoZ!

THIS Friday, the high is 80 and the low is 65, according to our friends at Hudson Valley Weather. So get here early to reserve your spot, ‘cause we’re expecting another big crowd for week 3 performers Wilder Woods and Chloe Cannon!

Food will be available from The Latin Garden Food Truck, with frozen treats from Zora Dora Paletaria.

You may have seen Jesus Christ Superstar before, but you’ve never seen it like this!

Winner of multiple Tony and Drama Desk Awards, Jesus Christ Superstar is an internationally acclaimed 1970 rock opera featuring the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. The musical tells the story of the last week of Jesus's life, loosely based on the Gospels, with ironic allusions to modern life scattered throughout the depiction of political events.

Now, imagine this timeless classic retold with the historical, nearly 60-acre Opus 40 sculpture park as its inspiration, performed by Centenary Stage Company, whose mission is "to entertain, to enlighten and to inspire" through "the transformative power of live performance"!

This past weekend at the Opus 40 was an incredible success — kicking off Friday with more than 250 locals and visitors of all ages attending the first night of our weekly summer Sunset Sessions with Radio Woodstock 100.1 WDST, followed by the thought-provoking Poetics in Space poetry writing workshop with Poet and Literary Critic Laura Hilton, and concluding Sunday with our Day of Divination and Psychic Fair, featuring readers, tellers and local vendors!
