It's not the Vegas Sphere-it's the all-natural Santa Ynez dome.

Every so often while feeding at sunset, the valley sky does something extraordinary: a complete 360-degree painted sunset overhead.

When I first moved to the Valley 11 years ago, I'd never seen anything like it, so I did a little research.

Our valley is cradled by east-west mountain ranges—a rare geological shape that forms an immersive natural bowl. Long after the sun drops below the hills, those high cirrus clouds catch the setting light, turning the entire sky into a glowing dome of soft violet and pastel rose.

Quiet moments like these are the inspiration behind my new fine art lookbook, ‘Painted Skies’.
