Santasliteshow is a synchronized music show for Christmas which allows families to view Christmas Lights that dance to music. The show runs from Thanksgiving night to New Years Eve. Its the first show to hit Santa Fe, NM and it is free.
Its never to early to start preparing for the Halloween Light show. So, what I built this past week is a vortex fog chiller. When fog comes out of the machine, it comes out hot so when you create a chiller, the fog goes in hot and comes out cold, the effect is that it comes out as low lying fog. This year, the show will run for 3 weeks. The address of this show is: 4216 Roadrunner Lane, Santa Fe, NM
All right, 2 more nights of the light show, weather permitting. Show time tonight 6:30 - 9:00 pm, tomorrow aka New Years Eve 6:30 - 11:59. Let your friends know as the show will not air again until next year. Tomorrow's light show will have a few different types of songs.....
The show is up and running tonight, we're thankful mother nature let us tonight. Tonights end time will be 9:30 pm.
No Show tonight, I've spent most of the day trying to clear out the snow and ice off the extenstion cords and eletrical boxes, but with that bitterly blowing snow, I'm cancelling the show tonight. I'm hoping for tomorrow..so sorry. Heck when the state is under a State Of Emergency, you know its bad.
No Show Tonight due to the blowing snow and the fridgid weather, neither element is good with electricity. Stay home with your loved ones, drink some hot choclate and curl up and watch a movie. Maybe tomorrow, weather permitting we can have a show. Hope you all had a terrific Christmas.
Merry Christmas everyone..I hope, all of you that have come by, have enjoyed the show. Tell your friends, share the page. Thank you all for hanging in when my show went down due to the power supply. The show will run tonight from 6 pm to Midnight as a tribiute to J.C. You know we wouldn't have a celebration or holiday without him.
Its Christmas Eve and The Show must go on!
FANS...Its been a tough 10 days with all the snow that has fallen along with all the flurries, however the show is back up and running. This past week, I had to add dedicated circuits and Amps to help run the show, but I now have the electricity to run those 10,000 lights. So hope to see you tonight, Christmas Eve through New Years. Thanks for hanging in there and sorry about the past 7 days.
NO SHOW TONIGHT, so sorry, with that wet snow over the weekend, I have a technical difficulty with several of the elements due to the wet snow and ice that fell. Until it warms up, which might not be until Saturday or Sunday, there won't be a show. Thats the problem with water and electricity, it doesn't mix. Sorry, I know I'm bummed out. I hope to have the show running by this weekend. Please stay tuned.
Great news we will have a LIGHT SHOW tonight and hopefully the rest of the year. Today, a handyman / Electrician, who I can't thank enough came by and fixed the problem, I've got to give a shout out to Felipe Varela (505) 699-9746. Mr. Varela came during his lunch break and fixed the problem. I always wonder each year, whether I'm going to have enough electricity to power the show. Hope to see you all tonight and every night through the New Year!!!! Start time 6:30 pm.
Sorry, FANS, too much snow afterall. I'll have to clear more snow tomorrow. Stay tuned to website, but no show tonight!

Photos from all stages of the light show, from set up - to donations - to breakdown.
What a great donation night at Santasliteshow, yesterday 12/12/15. 10 scarfs, 1 glove, canned goods and 10 dollars. These donations will come in handy with the snowfall from last night. In shoveling snow for my parents, I think Santa Fe received around 4 to 5 inches. Hope to see you all tonight for the light show. Hey a little snow never hurt anyone. See you at the show...start time 6:30 pm. Tonight the show will only run until 8:30 pm.
A few photos from October showing the set up for this years Santasliteshow. All in all due to the Halloween show being at another location, this years set up for the Christmas show took over 4 weekends and close to 50 hours of set up time. In case your wondering, there are close to 1.5 miles of extension cord running from element to element. This years show has over 15,000 LED lights, the spinning Yoli pin wheels are the only incandescent lights in the display. On the roof line we have red and white icicle lights along with a string of c9 blue Led lights. I also had a bright red star on the roof but the base of this element broke during the set up. We have over 100 Led and Xenon Strobe lights which make the display twinkle. We have 8 RGB spotlights, 3 LED Arches, 2 LED Light stack towers, 2 Yoli Pinwheels and 1 9 foot multi-color / white spiral tree, 10 mini Led Trees, and last but not least a Nativity Scene. Lets face it, we have Christmas because it is J.C's birthday.
Eventhough it snowed today, lightly, the light show is up and running, really the only time there are no lights is when it rains.
So, I spoke this week to the Executive Director of the overflow homeless shelter here in Santa Fe which is located at the old Pete's Pet Store. He was excited about the light show and told me that the items the homeless need most of, during the winter months are, gloves, scarfs, winter hats, socks, underwear and levis.
Below is a photo of dontations received from Thanksgiving night to today,a little less than we thought, so Santasliteshow urges you to bring by anything that a homeless person could use during these cold winter nights. Take a moment to imagine what it would be like to spend a night in the cold. Anything is welcome. Merry Christmas and we will post another donation photo on January 2nd. We look foward to seeing you at the show.
Do you Hear what I Hear....Love this song.

I know you all are focusing on Halloween however with the cold weather in New Mexico creeping in, today I started resurrecting the Christmas light show! Hope to see you at Santasliteshow this year. 2830 Don Quixote. The show starts November 27th every night until New Years Eve. 7-10 pm
The 1st person who can guess where the snowflakes will go will get this year will get a snowflake for themselves. Let me know by responding in the comment section.
Test run with 5 RGB lights. Not the best video, but you can see how these RGB flood lights can create tons of different colors. Come on out to the show and check out the floods along with other lights, starting October 16 - Halloween.
This afternoon, I worked diligently in changing out power cords on my Light o Rama floods to fit my RGB controller. These will be the lights that add a flood light to the house for Halloween. Currently I have 5. By Halloween, I hope to have 8. Lets see! I'll try to post a test video tonight with the floods in action.
I tried to cover 60 years of music for this Halloween Light Show and I think I have it. This is the line up for songs:

2) Adams Family by Vic Mizzy which was released in 1964,
3) Rock n Roll All Night by KISS released in 1975,
4) Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon released in 1978,
5) Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels released in 1979 ,
6) Time Warp by Richard O'Brien released in 1980,

This year, Santa Fe will have 2 Light shows. The first one will be our Halloween light show. The show will start October 16th and run through October 31, 2015. I'll be having a Halloween dress up party on Halloween night, so, we hope you will join us, in costume. Please come trick or treating through my neighborhood, then join us for a party. The light show will be at 4216 Roadrunner Lane, so start letting your friends since now. We will be having, "leslie's" Monster Quartet, Singing pumpkins, chasing tombstones and RGB flood lights. This should look spectacular, God willing.
A few last photos of the teardown which took place, yesterday on Valentines day. I'm so tired, I can't go to bed.
Valentine's day teardown of Santasliteshow. We are already planning for next year. Hope you all come out and check out the show. We will have the pinwheels back, 2 more smaller spiral trees and a few snowflakes. I'm so glad my Valentine helped me tear down everything.
Started taking down the light show today, on Valentines day. Its been so cold in Santa Fe with lots of snow but today was fabulous and my Valentine helped me take down the props.
Tomorrow, Santa and his Elf will be taking all the donations received this past year. I landed up breaking down all the donations into several rounds. All in all, Santa Fe, we did pretty good. There's a lot of clothing, jackets, blankets, pants, socks, mittens, sweaters, boots, along with canned food, pasta, drinks and other toiletries. Attached are some photos from all 3 rounds.
FAQ: The nuts and bolts of the Light Show: Some answers about the light show:
How did you get started? Well, I'm just an amatuer, however, for years I put up Christmas lights at my parents house, those displays were static, meaning there was no movement of lights, then I moved to putting lights at my own home. One day a friend of mine who had a baby told me if I wanted to try a system whcih he had bought the year before, but due to him having a baby and his wife telling him to help out more, he needed to get rid of it....so he gave it to me.
How many lights are there? There are approximately 10, 000 LED lights. For 2014, as a sample, there will be 9 mini tree's, 3 arches 1 red, 1 white and 1 blue, 2 large star bursts, 2 mini star bursts, 1 12 ft spiral tree, several types of roof lights to include RED icicle and Blue icicle lights and white icicle lights, multi color perimeter house lights, porch lights, a 2 foot star onto of the roof elevated at 12 feet off the roof and of course Santa on the roof by the chimney.
Do you make your own props? I do make my own tree's and arches. My tree's are made out of PVC schedule 40 pipe. I drill holes throughout the pipe, cut the pipe at the desired height. For my display I have 3 and 5 foot trees. I connect the top ends with zipties and the base of the tree is cut lawn hose. I tie the bottom of the tree to the lawn cord with zip ties. What I've found is that the trees are sturdy enough to withstand the wind and snow here in New Mexico. I'll be putting up photos of the trees. Maybe I'll make a tutorial vidio. The arches on the other had are made of PVC pipe, much like you see on the youtube videos.
How does it work? The lights are sequenced to music using a software called lightorama. Each lightorama controller that one has controllers 16 separate channels. For instance if you have 1 controller, you can turn on 16 mini tree's or any 16 objects that you would like. What takes time is sequencing all the music. The music such as my dad's favorite, "the Notre Dame Fight song" is roughly 2 minutes long. The sequencing program that I use breaks down each second into at times 20 different segments, thus a song of 2 minutes could have 2400 hundred segments. Well it sounds technical but it not too bad.
How long does one song take to sequence? That depends on how long the song is, however most songs take approximately 6-10 hours to sequence.
When do you start preparing for the next year? In 2012 and 2013, it took me 1/2 a year both years as I was busy sequencing songs and making the props for the yard, however now in 2014, I'm only sequencing one other song and only adding one other prop so the preparation time has been cut back to roughly a few months.
When will you start putting up the display? I'll start putting together the props starting this summer. Last year when I made my PVC trees, I left them white, I should have painted them black, so this year I took off the lights from those trees, bought spray paint for plastic and colored the tree's black, now its time to re-wrap the trees. I'll need to wrap the three arches in Red, White and Blue lights and I'll start that process in the summer as well. Once I put up the props in the yard, say in October, then i can customize my extension cords, which I make myself. This year I'll have a strand of strobe lights thus I need to make a customized c9 stringer for the 55 strobe lights which I'll use. Last year, 2013, just putting on the roof lights took about 3 weekends, hopefully this year, I can get everything up and running in about 1 months time.
FM Broadcast: Again for 2014, we will be broadcasting the show from Thanksgiving night through New Year's Eve. Turn your radio to 87.9 FM and listen to the music while watching the lights dance to music. The music is relayed from the computer to your radio via a small FM transmitter. Voice overs provided by, "The Demented Elf".
Happy New Years Santa Fe and the rest of this great nation. The light show is on the home stretch and for the last two nights of broadcast, I've put together a list of 24 songs that will play throughout the night, some songs, may not be suitable for small children, for instance Sexy and I know it and maybe a few of Pitbull's songs as well. Show starts at 6:00 pm and will run till 12:30 am or until the last car leaves.
Thank you all for coming by and supporting the show along with helping the homeless folks. It's been bitter cold here in Santa Fe the past few nights, so all your donations have helped. Thank you for spreading the word about the show and we hope to see many more of you at the show next year.
Happy New Year and be Safe tonight and always. Love Santa
So, we are on the last few days of Santaliteshow for 2014. Remember the light show will run New Years Eve and New Years night and that will be all folks. The show starts at 6 pm.
Today I went to work, spoke to many coworkers and found out all the fabulous gifts that they and their children received for Christmas and all I could think about was the homeless folks in our great nation, in New Mexico and in Santa Fe. All I can say is Thank You to all of you who came out to the light show and gave to those in need. The photos below are of the donations received after, December 22nd. We did quite well with clothing, blankets, gloves and many also donated food and candy.
We look forward to next year with new props and hopefully we at the light show can figure out how to get the word out to others so that this light show can continue bringing joy not only to those who watch the show, but for those that get help from the show. A special thanks to Maria Sutberry for helping spread the word about Santasliteshow.
From December 22nd through December 29th donations at Santasliteshow doubled. All goods donated will be given to the Interfaith Overflow shelter tomorrow Dec 30th, here in Santa Fe, NM.
