Today 100 years ago the guns were silenced in the most horrific war of attrition in the 20th Century. These are but a few of #SantaAnasOwn who sacrificed themselves during that war, incidentally these are all former students of #santaanahighschool.

New #Collection Developing! "Wrong Way" Corrigan was a fixture in Santa Ana and his boys attended #Santaana Schools. In July of 1938 he made his famous transatlantic #flight from New York to #Ireland following in the steps of #CharlesLindbergh and preceding the #HowardHughes flight of circumnavigating the globe. Wrong Way Corrigan would be lauded for his daring and success as a aviator and #aircraft #mechanic and would stay involved in aviation until the 1950s when he bought a #citrus grove in Santa Ana and chose to live out his life here. #Sunshine, the famous plane would be disassembled and in his garage for the next 50 years.

#Cataloging of the massive Ebell #Historical Collection continues! Sorry we haven't posted much about this yet, there is just so much! These are #Ebell #membership cards that were donated as part of their collection, they give vital data information and in most cases there is an obituary or funeral card attached, a very informative genealogical resource! Thank you to our awesome library pages for taking on this task of cataloging and #organizing this #collection! #workflow

History Never Sleeps, which means neither does the archivist! These items came from the Mullinix-Bruff Family of Santa Ana all the way from La Jolla, CA this evening. The watercolor was done in the 1960s of the Mullinix-Bruff House on 1414 N. Main St in Santa Ana. The foot rest is a family heirloom that once sat in the home. There is more but that's for another post!
Thank you Dr. Hemmingsen for trusting us with your family legacy!
