Live stream of tonight's Pecha Kucha Night: Tew Terrains / San Jose 2040 at the San Jose Museum of Art. I've been told that a high resolution version will be available shortly, but for now you can see the whole event... in kind of a blurry fashion.

Unfortunately, due to scheduling changes at San Jose's ICA, we're cancelling the September show.

Actually, this is kinda cool, because it opens up a new opportunity we thought might have to wait until later in the fall! So keep watching! Sorry to tease, but we have a few loose ends to clean up before we can announce the new show. But I can tell you that it's unlike anything we've done before!
-Ric

07/19/2017

OK, here's the 2nd big announcement. We told you earlier we were returning to the ICA for a show (see July 6th note below), but that's not the only thing happening as we head into Fall this year.

On Thursday, September 21st, at 7pm, we'll be putting on a show at the San Jose Museum of Art! This is one of our favorite and longer-standing partnerships so I'm really looking forward to it. We'll likely be supporting a new exhibit (actual theme not yet announced) so we'll be working with presenters already involved with the museum and theme. Mark your calendars to hold that date!

Oh yeah, we're working up one more surprise. It's a little early to announce but I'm super excited about the potential here. And yes, we'll be looking for a few volunteers for that one (finally!) Likely in the October/November time frame. I'm tempted to give a few clues but you're all too smart and you'd likely get it right away, so mum's the word.

San Jose ICA

OK, here's the first of two announcements: There will be a San Jose Pecha Kucha on Friday, August 25th at the Institute of Contemporary Art (SJICA).
http://www.sjica.org

Theme and presenters are being set now, unfortunately it will be by invitation so we're not looking for volunteers. This will be the second time we've been at the ICA.The first, back in July of 2012 was fairly memorable, featuring presenters like now Mayor Sam Liccardo, Content Magazine's Daniel Garcia, and Adam Mayberry of the Mayberry Workshop.

We're expecting another top-notch set of presenters, so mark your calendar now!

06/30/2017

We've been very quiet latey.
But there's a really big announcement in the near future.

Something we've done before, and yet something I've never done before.

Keep tuned in!

Someone did a Facebook streaming of last night's Pecha Kucha show at the San Jose Museum of Art. The presenters explored topics related to mindfulness in conjunction with the exhibition Your Mind, This Moment: art and the practice of attention.

It appears to be all here, but the sound is not great. Still, if you missed it, it's a chance to see all the great presentations.

We will have some higher-quality video produced later. Like this page to get notice when those are available.

True Story

In case it missed careful scrutiny, we've added another speaker to Tuesday's line-up. Will Rogers! Yes, given the theme this may or may not be his real name (Seriously, I don't know for sure!) But he's one of the creators of the True Story Game and their podcast. He'll be presenting "The Story of the Naked King."

PechaKucha 20x20 - San Jose, CA

Every now and then it's just a good idea to repost this:

What's Pecha Kucha? It's a form of presentation so popular that people fill bars and auditoriums just to watch come out to watch presenters for an evening! Pecha Kucha format is 20 slides, each set to advance after 20 seconds, so in 6 minutes and 40 seconds the presenter is done!

It has to be seen to be believed.

And if you're in the Silicon Valley, you have an opportunity to do so absolutely free on August 11th!

Looking for Silicon Valley storytellers for the next Pecha Kucha event. Particularly looking recommendations of women because my existing list is primarily male and I want a better mix.

To be clear, I'm not expressly looking for published authors (although that would be fine) but someone who can "tell a story."

06/01/2015

OK, starting to ramp up for the next event. It's gonna be another groundbreaker for Pecha Kucha.

"Lie to Me."

Presenters should tell a true story, with just a bit of a lie in it. Or perhaps that's a lie with a bit of the truth in it. In either case, we're looking at another unique event in Pecha Kucha.
.
Working on dates now. Message me if you're interested in presenting. And don't lie.
