. . . freedom can only hold her;
been about josephine, still about josephine.

• layer one. fresh buttercup flowers. layer two. josephine at home, at water's edge, somewhere in the dordogne region of france.

• layer one. grid paper page. layer two. a scene from the josephine baker story (a tv film, 1991), portrayed by lynn whitfield.

• layer one. mushrooms and roses. layer two. a concept in homage to josephine's years on the chit'lin circuit.

• a sense of humour

• layer one. cloudscape. layer two. josephine being styled in preparation for a show.

a revisitation of miss josephine baker not just as a performer, but as portal - through reflection, homage, and in concept. in honoring josephine, i honor myself, affirming that in the noise of the world, art is a necessary breath, not a decorative pause.

an example: as the country has become more polarized, there's been criticism that journalism is now more about activism than news gathering (source: dictionary.com).

composition for the artist, anyone?

my prologue series is fully live and free to explore across four individual posts (link in my bio), collectively serving as a reminder that every art journey begins somewhere, no matter how polished, raw, or all over the place it may feel. as a paid subscriber you’ll unlock exclusive posts, full access to guided journaling sessions as well as the full monday archive. these sessions are all about experimenting together — mixing creative writing with visual storytelling, and uncovering the roots of those creative urges.

monday’s cumulative serves as a gentle nudge to slow down, get curious and explore what it means to hold creative capacity.

a few reflections, healthy reminders, and mainstays:
• art is a conversation, not a competition
• you don't act poetry, you live that s**t
• creatives are motivated by their motivation to achieve, not by the desire to beat others
• my grass is as green as it needs to be

welcome to monday's cumulative, i'm looking forward to holding creative space with you.

. . my prologue series is fully live and free to explore across four posts — i come from, make my heart smile, creativity is bond, reflection begins with “a” — collectively serving as a creative reminder that every art journey starts somewhere, whether it feels polished or a bit all over the place as most sometimes are. if you’re a paid subscriber, you’ll unlock exclusive posts, full access to the monday archive, and access to guided journaling sessions.

these gatherings are all about experimenting together — mixing creative writing with visual storytelling, and uncovering the roots of those creative urges.

my ultimate goal here is to build community with like-minded creatives, collaborate on impactful projects (within the digital + physical space) and share art-based knowledge with my community.
