Nancy Toomey Fine Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of works by Lisa Bartleson titled "Hand Work" on view from April 2 to May 16, 2026. The gallery is located inside San Francisco’s Minnesota Street Project, 1275 Minnesota Street. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 12pm to 4pm, and by appointment–please contact [email protected] or 415-307-9038.

The public is invited to meet artist Lisa Bartleson at the gallery on Saturday, April 4, from 5pm to 7pm.

The exhibition "Hand Work" at Nancy Toomey Fine Art poignantly declares artist Lisa Bartleson’s new method where she embraces the tension between intimacy, corporeality, and material. Bartleson explores each focal point and its intersections, welcoming the inseparable and often uneasy relations found there. The crossroads of "Hand Work’s" aesthetics centers the feminine, Bartleson’s historic conceptual framing, yet expands towards abandon with plump, imperfect forms that are poised to resist the order and containment of the resin, expressing both power and vulnerability under the resin’s sharpening opacity. This tension is amplified by the artist's sublime color palette, deep saturated pigments on organic cotton that at once suggest rootedness and blooming, surety and potential. Inside this duality, the viewer experiences the intensity of the form and color, which encourages the sensation of touch without contact... More: https://shorturl.at/qQZkP

"Obsessive | Compulsive," curated by UK-based artist Eric Butcher at Nancy Toomey Fine Art in San Francisco, is an exhibition of works which are clearly and visibly a result of the processes of their creation. A preoccupation with systems, procedures, and processes allows each of the artists to end up in a place unplanned and unimagined. They share a preoccupation with the materiality of their medium, a delight in the physical properties of the material, and the dialogue between chance and control... In "The Curse of Eve" at Nancy Toomey Fine Art, Monica Lundy presents a series of portrait paintings in which she explores feminine archetypes. Lundy's artwork is inspired, in part, by psychologist Carl Jung's concept of inherited patterns of thought including primal imagery and character types that arise from the collective unconscious, spanning across culture and time. These easily recognizable images can be found throughout mythology, ancient literature, and fairy tales, and still resonate to this day..." More: https://shorturl.at/pGlLp

Nancy Toomey Fine Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of works by Jud Bergeron titled "After Context" on view from September 3 to October 25, 2025. The gallery is located inside San Francisco’s Minnesota Street Project, 1275 Minnesota Street. The public is invited to meet artist Jud Bergeron at the gallery on Saturday, September 6, from 5pm to 7pm.

In the exhibition "After Context," Jud Bergeron explores the ways in which form, material, and process function as sculptural prompts--each one opening a new rabbit hole of context and meaning. Bergeron's project is in part a response to the behavior of artificial intelligence, where a single prompt can generate a cascade of divergent outcomes. The artist is using the same principle in physical space: letting materials and their demands lead the direction of the work. Rather than issuing commands to a machine, he is asking questions of matter... More: https://shorturl.at/obr8u

Exhibition video! Final weeks to see the group show “Turning the Page,” curated by Donna Seager, on view at Nancy Toomey Fine Art through August 4, 2025. More: https://shorturl.at/xI9by

"Turning the Page" examines the book as a primary medium for creating art. The goal is to explore as many approaches as possible. It begins with the belief that the physical qualities of books--the pages, papers, inks, covers, and bindings provide artists with a source material that is difficult to surpass, rich in associations and textures to be mined and repurposed in satisfying and meaningful ways. “The seven artists represented each approach the book in a unique way,” says curator Seager. “Weaving materiality and meaning, these artists inspire us to consider books not just for their content, but their intrinsic tactile and visual qualities...” More: https://shorturl.at/xI9by
