💥Reminder!💥20/20 Vision: See Further opens TONIGHT in 📍LA JOLLA📍, at 7509 Girard Avenue from 6-8PM! On view will include Marcos Ramírez ERRE's witty Eye Charts, which bring critical wisdom to ensure the disastrous typo of his ‘Democrazy’ does not become a dictionary staple. Language and word play are central to ERRE’s sculptural and conceptual practice. ERRE has made the border a central part of his work for over two decades, examining its oft-forgotten history and shifting contours, as well as its current social, economic, and political implications. #Further #2020Vision #SeeFurther #MarcosRamírezERRE

A sneak peek of what is to be exhibited by Lee Materazzi in @reinventingrid’s exhibition at Further opening this Saturday! Materazzi brings photographic tension between surrealist abundance and self-negation, forcing attention on the space we occupy, the space from which we see the art that takes us further. Materazzi's work is based in everyday life. Though Materazzi transcends the documentarian quality of life to elevated concepts about living. The photographs take the mundane tasks and chores of our existence and express the way in which they affect our consciousness. #Further #2020Vision #SeeFurther #LeeMaterazzi

A sneak peek into Jean Lowe’s figurative paintings, which are on view in @reinventingrid’s exhibition at Further opening this Saturday! Lowe’s paintings denounce the piled-high fire sale of our historical capital in a society turned consumerist zoo. All is not lost though: her humorous papier-maché books offer self-help solutions to all ailments. Lowe's work manages to be fun and inviting, even within all of her social critique. Although often large in size, the work never overshadows the viewer; rather it makes one rethink their place in this consumer culture and question society as a whole. By incorporating traditional styles with extra-ordinary techniques, the works tend to speak to a sensibility of beauty, while also offering food for thought. #Further #2020Vision #SeeFurther #JeanLowe

On view in 20/20 Vision: See Further (opening this Saturday at Further), will be Adrien Couvrat’s optical painted wonders. They will make you doubt what your eyes truly see, yet empower you to conjure up colors out of black and white. Using simple tools, Couvrat obtains an optical materialization close to a screen by working directly on the materiality of the pictorial layer, without artifice or effects. Only a chemistry or even an alchemy of colors is at work. The pigment turns into light when it is projected onto the screen-surface. The artist proceeds by crossing between two painted images and by projecting color onto streaks that make up the canvas. For more information, please contact @reinventingrid!

A.R. Penck was a German painter, printmaker, sculptor, and jazz drummer. An autodidact, he created in his paintings, "worlds" and "experience spaces," filled with symbolic abbreviations. He used stick figures and graphic icons that seem reminiscent of cave paintings, Asian calligraphy and graffiti art. In the 1960s and 1970s, he created a series of paintings and sculptures, that he called Standarts, a conflation of "standard" and "art", with an echo of the German word for banner or flag, Standarte.[4] By this term, Penck understood an art form that used simple and archaic pictorial symbols, such as traffic signs or trademarks. In the 1980s he became known worldwide for his paintings with pictographic, neo-primitivist imagery of human figures and other totemic forms. He was included in many important shows both in London and New York City. #ARPenck #Germanartist #cavepaintings #neoprimitivism @ Quint Gallery

@photolafair here we come! We are thrilled to be presenting a selection of photography by Philipp Scholz Rittermann in our booth this weekend (booth H05).

Philipp describes this series, I have long wondered what it might look like if we could hold day and night, summer and winter, the presence and subsequent absence of something — in a single gaze. Dwelling on this has led to this body of work, which plays at the intersection how we see, the passage of time, and how we remember.
These images are not photoshop mashups. By using projectors in the landscape, transparencies installed in spaces, and physical layers of transparency suspended over prints, the work captures expanses of time our gaze can’t accommodate. #PhilippScholzRittermann @ Photo L.A.

General information

Quint Gallery was founded by gallery owner, Mark Quint in 1981. Quint Gallery has presented over 275 exhibitions during it’s 33 years of business and has built and inhabited 10 gallery spaces in San Diego, California including locations in Mission Hills, Mira Mar, Downtown and La Jolla always with a reputation of exhibiting world class contemporary artwork. In 1990, along with collector Michael Krichman, Quint created Quint-Krichman Projects, a venture to sponsor visual artists from around the globe to visit, work and exhibit in multiple studio spaces. This collaboration was instrumental in the creation of inSite, San Diego and Tijuana’s international art biennial. In 2011 the gallery relocated to a building at 7547 Girard Ave. La Jolla whose 3,000 square-foot interior space was renovated with the help of international artists Robert Irwin and Roy McMakin. The gallery façade features a sculpture installation by San Diego-based artist Roman de Salvo. The gallery exhibits contemporary art by emerging, mid-career and established artists. The exciting exhibition schedule has kept Quint on the cutting edge of contemporary art in Southern California, bringing artists from all over the world to San Diego. In recent exhibitions Quint has covered the newest works by seminal California Light & Space artists, the poetic and nationalistic artworks of artists from Iceland and emerging young artists on the national art scene. Past exhibitions by well-known artists Mel Bochner, Julian Opie, Roman Opalka, Sol Lewitt, Liza Lou, Robert Irwin, Ryan McGinness and many more have raised the bar for contemporary art exhibited in San Diego. “It is fair to say that no one has done more than Mark Quint to develop the art scene in San Diego over the past 25 years. It has been an inspiration to follow him and the exhibition program he has consistently presented in gallery spaces all over the city for so many years. The through line has been his impeccable eye, uncompromising intelligence and a fierce loyalty to his artists and his friends. His persistence for the sake of art has vastly improved the cultural climate of our city.” – Hugh Davies, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego The gallery has always proudly exhibited the work of “traditional painters” and continues to represent the work of Kelsey Brookes, Manny Farber, Jean Lowe, Kim MacConnel, Ryan McGinness and John Millei. Quint is also known for working with conceptual and object based artists including Adam Belt, Roman de Salvo, Thomas Glassford, Roy McMakin, Johannes Girardoni and Lee Materazzi. Well-established artist’s Peter Alexander, Mel Bochner and Robert Irwin round out the gallery’s artists. Quint Gallery works tirelessly with curators, collectors and art advisors to help facilitate the placement of art in private, corporate, public and museum collections. Quint recently launched an online store that presents multiples, catalogs and artist’s projects.
