African American Heritage and Diaspora Exhibits

AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE AND DIASPORA EXHIBITS The WorldBeat Cultural Center (WBCC), an African Diaspora cultural center and museum in San Diego, California will develop, over a three-year period, its African American Heritage exhibit into a more extensive and expansive exhibition. The exhibition will be the cornerstone of the organization’s transformation into the rebranded WorldBeat Cultural Center and African American Heritage and Diaspora Museum. The new exhibition will be based on the WBCC’s temporary African American history exhibition for Black History Month. It will feature 15 topics: Black Inventors, Scientists, and Explorers; Black Women in History; Cultures of Resistance; Slavery; African Art; African Spirituality; Gullah Sea Islands; Black Civil War Veterans (in collaboration with the Veterans Museum); San Diego’s African American History; Black Indians; Black Jews;Afro-Latinos; Kwanzaa; Hair Exhibit titled 400 Years without a Comb; How We Are All Interconnected. The exhibit will include documentary mini-videos for both the exhibit and the WBCC website and will be accompanied by an interactive and participatory docent program.
