In the past year, they have collected over 50 new oral histories. Through first-person perspectives and studio portraits, Welcome to the Mix provides a glimpse into some of the fascinating people and stories that will now be part of SDHC’s collection.

As you walk across the Cabrillo Bridge, you are welcomed by one of the most majestic buildings in Balboa Park.
Since its construction in 1915, for the Panama-California Exposition, the California Building, now home to the Museum of Man, has served as a magnificent entry into Balboa Park. Adjacent to the Museum of Man is the iconic California Tower which is temporarily closed for a seismic retrofit.
The Museum of Man and many of its exhibits, including Living with Animals and PostSecret, will stay open to the public throughout the seismic retrofit during regular hours of operation. As an added bonus, the special up-charged Cannibals: Myth & Reality exhibit is included in that price for free during construction.
Take a trip through the Museum of Man’s immersive and interactive exhibitions. Discover how wild animals became our pets and enjoy virtual meals from different countries over the last 100 years in the Living with Animals exhibition.
And while you are here: the Cannibals: Myth & Reality exhibit is definitely one of a kind and a wonderful experience that reveals connections through history, art, film and more. Share your most favorite exhibits inside the Museum of Man in the comments below!
