Wow! These 350 year-old steel engravings by Filippo Bonanni are a stunning mix of art, science, and history. Published in Ricreatione dell’Occhio e della Mente in 1684, they document shells and marine life, once believed to be relics of the Biblical Flood. Bonanni transformed nature’s ‘gems’ into playful, human-like designs, blending Baroque creativity with the birth of conchology. Truly fascinating! 🐚📖
