We would like to extend a most sincere thank you to everyone who joined us on the summer solstice this past weekend! We saw such kindness and generosity extended to one another to the likes that we have never seen before. There were so many words of love, so many pay-it-forward acts, and all of it was needed in these turbulent times. Friends, we encourage you to continue making each other smile. We can't wait to see you next time!

Tomorrow, June 20th, is the summer solstice! We will be open from sunrise to sunset to allow everyone the opportunity to witness the sun rising and setting over the alignment monoliths. It truly is a spectacular site to behold. How did these ancient peoples know precisely where to place the stones, and how long did it take them to pinpoint the exact location?

06/16/2020

Summer solstice is June 20th this year! Join us for an outdoor drum circle from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. We will also be open from sunrise (5:07 am) to sunset (8:28 pm) to view the astronomical alignments. Bring the family for a day in the woods where the sun will be shining and the birds may even join in the music!

⚠️New Policies⚠️

Dear friends,

While we continue to remain open during the COVID-19 crisis as an essential business to the mental health and well-being of families, we have made a few adjustments to our policies in the hope of keeping our visitors and staff healthy:
1. All ticket purchases must be made online. We will no longer be accepting cash or credit cards presented in person, for a contactless check-in outside the visitor center. The link can be found here: https://stonehengeusa.square.site/
2. We have reduced our admission rates, and tickets purchased online at the discounted rate will never expire. Even if you want to stay at home now and visit us next year, those tickets will let you in at a reduced rate!
3. The gift shop will be closed to visitors except for the use of restrooms. Tour guide maps and instructions will be given outside by the front door.
4. The main site will remain open as usual. Please use good common sense and exercise safe physical distancing of at least six feet.

On our website you are able to:
1. Purchase tickets
2. Watch the orientation video
3. Download the mobile tour app with audio tour

If you or someone in your immediate family is feeling ill or has a fever, we ask that you please stay safely at home.

Thank you all for your understanding during these turbulent times.

Be well,
The Stone Family

For the very first time likely in hundreds, if not thousands of years, we were able to witness the sun shining through the entrance of the Watch House, illuminating the quartzite stone in the wall in the back of the chamber. The shadow perfectly wraps around the point of the stone! We will be putting together a time lapse video of the sunrise in the next few days. Stay tuned!

Rain 🌧 or shine ☀️ we will be open tomorrow, March 19th, from sunrise to sunset for the spring equinox! The exact equinox moment will take place at 11:49 PM, and though most calendars show the first day of spring being March 20th this year, we extend our hours on the day of the equinox. What is your favorite part of spring? 🌱🌷

03/18/2020

Dear friends,

Our hope is to remain open during this crisis. Our place is unique in that your visit here will be at least 90% outdoors. To protect our employees and visitors alike we have stepped up our cleaning routine and we are rotating our staff to keep them in high-traffic areas for as short a time as possible. We have allowed ticket purchases to be made online to avoid time at the register. We have also added our orientation video to our website.

You can help by:
1. Downloading the mobile app at home
2. Watching the orientation video on our website www.StonehengeUSA.com before coming or once you are outside
3. If you are purchasing tickets in the building, please have only the person purchasing them approach the register
4. Paying with a credit card if possible, to minimize our staff handling cash

If you wish to have a picnic lunch here, benches and tables are located adjacent to our parking lot outdoors.

Thank you,
The Stone family

03/13/2020

In response to concerns over COVID-19, we are taking extra cleaning measures to keep our visitors and our staff safe. The great news is that 90% of the tour is outdoors where our visitors can maintain a comfortable social distance from others. Inside the visitor center, we open the doors as much as possible on nice days to let in fresh air (and Mother Nature has most certainly been cooperating with us on that front!), as well as sanitizing the counters, bathrooms, and other high-traffic areas as frequently as possible. In addition, we have uploaded our 11-minute orientation video to our website to allow visitors the opportunity to view it before their visit if they do not wish to sit in a theater with others. Remember to wash your hands and use good common sense. This too shall pass!

Megaliths in Uppland, Sweden

This video is really interesting. Mick travels around Uppland, Sweden to many different megalithic sites, guided by Maria Stehn. America's Stonehenge is mentioned a couple of times throughout the video as well!
https://youtu.be/zXZ_Y_FkbDE

There are literally thousands of megalithic standing stones in Uppland and Maria Stehn guided Mick around most of them (or at least it felt like that to him)...
