priorities.

yup. priorities.

when i left my career as a teacher & advocate for children, adults, and seniors with disabilities to launch irmalou photography, i knew that my passion for service would not just *p**f* disappear.

sure, being 'the boss' can be a pain, but it affords me the opportunity to make the important decisions, and i knew right away that at the core of my business would be a mission of giving back to people & organizations in need. this weekend, i had the privilege to do just that as i volunteered to photograph the Chief Maloney Memorial Walk/Run in Greenland, NH.

priorities.

i said it above, and i'll say it again. as this family crossed the finish line, i welled up with tears behind my camera.

this image is far from a photographic masterpiece. it will never hang on the wall of a museum, grace the cover of a magazine, or inspire oohs and aahs from adoring throngs. at the end of the day, i may just be a mediocre photographer (and a pretty crappy business person. ha!) but i do it with heart. and love. and a true knowledge of where my priorities lie.

right here. in the tightly clasped hands of this family. celebrating the life of a fallen hero.
