Provo Pioneer Village

Provo Pioneer Village Welcome to the PROVO PIONEER VILLAGE! As our Village Mayor always says, “The things in this VILLAGE aren’t meant to look old, they are OLD!”
(20)

The Provo Pioneer Village contains the original structures built by the first pioneers in the area. The residential section contains three family dwellings, a well, outhouse, a granary, a corncrib, and a loafing shed; additionally, the village includes blacksmith, cooper, tanner shops, a wood shop, mercantile, and a schoolhouse.

This contraption is new to our village’s collection. Though... what the heck is this?!

Note the gears behind the wheel and - while it’s difficult to see - the numbers around it.

Even if you’re not familiar with this device’s name, what do you think its purpose is? 🤠

🟠 UPDATE 🟠

The village will now include hours on Fridays from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Additionally, we are welcoming all ages to the village - young and old!

Also, while it’s not required, we’re requesting all visitors to wear a mask - for the sake of some of our senior volunteers.

So... our updated summer hours:

MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY
5 PM - 8 PM

SATURDAY
11 AM - 3 PM

Thanks for being our friends, we hope to see you this summer! 🤠

Friends! We will be open on Monday, May 25th from 5 PM - 8 PM... 🤠

The village - at this time - is operating under the state and city's 'yellow status' guidelines.

If you are interest in visiting the village at this time, PLEASE look over the following information.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are REQUIRED to observe the yellow level - COVID-19 precautions issued by the Governor of Utah and Provo City's
Mayor.

PLEASE help us with these public health issues until the status level is changed. The village operates only by the kindness of volunteers and this experience is new to the village's staff as much as it is to you. We will make the experience in the village as fun as we can! Your COOPERATION will make it a safe place for everyone.

(1) When arriving PLEASE sign in with a DOCENT. [Total number of people in the village will be a 'rotating 50'. As someone leaves, someone will be allowed in!]

(2) PLEASE bring MASKS (that cover mouth and nose) and wear them while in the village. [We require this for all visitors within 6 feet of one another. Also, stay in family groups - social distancing from other groups.]

(3) PLEASE use water-less hand cleaner use when arriving and leaving.

(4) NO visitors under 8 years of age (at this time). PLEASE assist children not to touch surfaces, toys, games, buildings, artifacts, etc...

(5) PLEASE DO NOT enter buildings past barriers.

(6) DOCENTS will give tours of the historical village and will help push audio buttons.

(7) We want you to have FUN and for health safety, we have these limitations for a little longer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Again, we are an amateur, volunteer-based organization. We understand that following these guidelines may be bothersome and frustrating. If you do not feel comfortable following these guidelines at this time, we'd encourage you to comeback later when such restrictions are diminished. We plan on being here a while! 🤠

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Restructured summer hours:

Mondays 5 PM - 8 PM
Wednesdays 5 PM - 8 PM
Saturdays 11 AM - 3 PM

[This is subject to change as conditions and state and city guidelines change.]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Additionally, consider becoming a DOCENT or SKILLED CRAFT DEMONSTRATOR, or even support team member.

Many of the items we use today, were used decades ago. This is an example of such an item. Although its been modified over the years it still serves a clever purpose.

What is it called or what do you think its use is?

Clue: It isn’t used in the claw game machine you usually see at arcades! (Truth be said; it kind of looks like it though!) 🤠

We store this tool in the village’s LOAFING SHED. Have any idea of its purpose and name? 🤠

We are disappointed to share with you that this year‘s Christmas Event will need to be CANCELLED.

Construction in front of our village has made accessibility limited and difficult for guests to maneuver.

Due to recent construction activity, we feel it best to cancel this year’s event.

If you could spread the word, we would be grateful.

We appreciate your support and understanding, and we hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season.

Happy Christmas! 🤠
