Yesterday the Gila Monster became the State Reptile of Utah. The Gila Monsters are one of two venomous lizards in North America, but they don't tend to attack humans. Venomous means their bite contains venom which can be toxic to animals or humans. That being said, give a Gila Monster plenty of space as, like all wild creatures, it likes it better that way. (Here is the Gila Monster on in the Common Vertebrates of Utah Exhibit)
