Today is Trans Day of Visibility! I’m celebrating by remembering that Wabanaki People have honored people with non binary gender identities with powerful leadership roles in their communities since time immemorial. May this remind us that they have always been here in this place leading, as have trans people. Long before Maine became Maine, or even the US became the US. We can’t celebrate trans people or trans history without celebrating their culture, history, and communities!! Check out the Youth and Cultural Center Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness is building at the center of Downtown Bangor and consider doing whatever you can to increase their visibility by investing in what they are building for the benefit of all of us! 10,000+ years of visibility and leadership matters!!! It is what has shaped this state and this nation from first light!
