In December we lost a true friend and artist Tim Kelley. He was set to do a solo show at a nearby café on the very day that he passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind his son Teague, as well as his artistic legacy, now in danger of being lost to a storage removal company! On behalf of and Friends of Tim, we are asking for your help in reaching the GoFundMe goal 🏆 👉https://gofund.me/1f01b276

So pleased to exhibit in Pittsburgh the award-winning of CJ Pressma. With over 4 decades of experience and a graduate of Antioch College, Indiana University and MIT, CJ founded the Center for Photographic Studies – an "alternative school of creative photography" in 1970. In 1978, he was awarded a National Endowment Fellowship in Photography.

Proudly (and unwaveringly) Jewish, in 1984, his seven part series 'Witness to the Holocaust', was released in the U.S. and Canada where it remains in distribution today. One of the first productions to use survivor interviews as the exclusive content to tell the story of the Holocaust, 'Witness to the Holocaust' has received numerous national awards.

In 1997 he was awarded the American Advertising Federation’s prestigious
Silver Medal Award for “outstanding contributions to advertising and
furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence, and responsibility
in areas of social concern". In December 2001, Pressma was awarded a Fellowship by and is currently based in Louisville, KY.

Several editions are currently signed, framed, and available for a very limited time. We are so fortunate to have worked with CJ over the past two months to include his works in 'NOEL NOIR"- now showing though the end of 2023.

It's looking more like a mom & pop gallery everyday! You may have heard, ‘Noel Noir’ is our last show at 5417 Butler St. We are taking time off for our little fam starting in January but there's still some new things we're working on- Growing our creative services brand, w/ the industry best In all things luxury, VCG delivered this beautiful AP 80’s edition of ‘A Toast’ to a home in Mt. Washington. (We are big fans of Giancarlo). We are also offering our 360 Tours for the true collectors out there. Check out the Beta version of (part!) of .milliron legendary apartment, found at 👉tinyurl.com/4vxd6942
for a limited time.

3 years ago on a whim and random opportunity, we started a functional and constantly revolving (and evolving concept) art gallery from nothing ($200 and a credit card, and a tip from ) with the basic premise to provide immediate opportunities for artists who were tired of Covid closures, the zombie scene, and tired of waiting around for responses from pretentious galleries. We came from relatively nothing, have no trust funds, no investors, no huge settlement, no rich family members, no donors, no institutional endorsements, and most importantly, we never took a salary, and we don’t own the building. (But we did sell a f**k ton of art). Every show theme was carefully chosen and woven seamlessly together, armed with a van, a storage unit, and ... 😵‍💫 maybe someday we will release a blooper reel of show ideas that didn’t work. 🫣 (Who wouldn’t want to see a show called “F**KED UP 2: Mixed Nuts”?) 🤓

In the end we proved that there can be some sort of alternative and sustainable model for storefront art galleries (cue the Main Street Harmonica Ballad) where you don't have to be super rich to buy a piece of great art.

For anyone who knew the difference and to the loyal customers who trusted us putting nails in their walls- thank you. We hope to see you this month and holiday party on Sat. Dec. 16th 🎅🎵

"The Last Message" takes us into final weekend to see Primal III: The Sacred Triangle 🔺 Loaded with this incredible 60"x 40" work by conveys the Great “Goddess” in the ancient Akan tradition of Ghana, and should be seen up close to truely apprieciate 👀

"Nyame is the original Supreme Being, the great mother, and genetrix of this culture. This painting depicts the key symbols of this ancient goddess represented by the crux decussate (the X shaped cross). Being that her sacred number is 3, she is said to have divided the universe into three parts, the sky (birth), the earth (life) and the underworld (death). She is also represented by the triangle or pyramid."

The earth aspect of the goddess is symbolized by the 8 rayed star while the underworld is symbolized with the 6 rayed star. Animal spirits associated with the goddess are doves (her messengers) and antelopes which appear in many forms to represent her.

Although originally a matriarchal culture, the goddesses form was eventually converted to a male patriarchal form by Christian missionaries. Today some view this deity as a dual male/female form.

See if you can identify these symbolisms within the piece, including the artist’s subtle attempt to introduce the conversion of the culture to a patriarchal form! 🧐

After many months wait, we are pleased to be hosting work by . Complete with hand carved frames, his surreal (and at times, grotesque) artwork is on display and available for purchase as part of our current exhibit: "The Sacred Triangle;" running now through Nov 12.

A Pratt Institute graduate, Lawler has shifted from NYC, to Chicago (and spaces between), where he currently resides. His paintings also shift: from the political, to the iconographic, to the lines between the real and imaginary, where arms and shoulders can suddenly become a jaw and vice versa... 😮

"By nature I’m a bit of a mixture of a surrealist and expressionist, I rarely plan too much and let my thoughts go where they will and I allow the images to form with my thoughts as they happen".

"Pareidolia" is a tool that illustrates this reality gap, where things "are" and "are not" at the same time, changing from viewer to viewer.

"I paint pictures that illustrate these inherent confusions we all have with interpreting and forming a consensus on reality. I’m typically thinking about individuality in a collective society, consumerism, critiques on capitalism, and how one finds meaning in a world we designed by ourselves to be disconnected from".

His work "Portrait 1" can be viewed of purchased , open Fri-Sat-Sun. 🎃 ** Note: Early closing on Saturday 10/28: 4 PM** 🕰 Or, please inquire 👈

VCG is pleased to feature two works of Erin Cross, on view and available for sale--through Nov 12--as part of our on-going exhibition "Primal Disposition III: Sacred Triangle." Erin's art has garnered international recognition and found its home within prestigious private and public collections. Vestige Concept Gallery is happy to create the unique opportunity for Pittsburgh art lovers and collectors to take a piece of her artwork home.

More About the Artist: During her time at Athena Standard Residency, artist focused on a new series of drawings inspired by the Greek sculptures and spiritual relics.

Interested in the spiritual story, history and personal power of votives and Ephanany statues, she was struck with the idea of immortality and how humans are the indicators of what remains alive or becomes forgotten. As she explains:

"Votives and Ephanany Statues were the manifestations of the devotee and the spiritual being. The power held in these spiritual structures during the ancient times and how the presence of the spiritual is still present in the essence of the “shell” we see today. Most of my drawings focus on this concept of the immortal experience in reality and also transforming into a shell through disregard and forgetfulness."

Cross received her MFA in Visual Studies with a focus in multi-media. Recently, her drawings have been published in The Poet’s Touchstone, and

She also received the 2021 Past President Award from the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society.
