As week ends, we’re grateful to see our work serving the community and helping others. Before the of the new 150,000 square foot City Harvest location, Powers & Company undertook a comprehensive history of the building — uncovering its as a train depot in the late 19th century.

Now, the City Harvest building consolidates New York’s largest food rescue organization under one roof with a creative space to provide food, vital services, office space for employees and volunteers and an event space.

Check out Architectural Digests feature to see the full renovation:

City Harvest’s newly opened Brooklyn campus was designed by Ennead Architects and Rockwell Group

The Federal Historic Tax Credit is in grave danger of being eliminated during upcoming tax reform. Please contact your elected officials in the House and Senate and tell them you support this critical economic development tool, which has generated billions of dollars in investment in historic buildings and has created over two million jobs in the past 30+ years. The National Trust for Historic Preservation has created this simple, easy tool to help you get in touch with your senators and representatives:

Join us in urging lawmakers to send a message to the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees: the historic tax credit must be retained in a reformed tax code.

As congress begins to discuss tax reform, it's worth pointing out the benefits of the Federal Historic Tax Credit program. In 2016 alone, $6.5 billion was invested in historic rehabilitation projects under the HTC program, creating 109,000 jobs and generating $1.7 billion in federal, state and local taxes. The National Trust profiles three important historic tax credit projects in the Winter 2017 edition of Preservation Magazine. If not for the federal historic tax credit, a program that is in danger of being cut during upcoming tax reforms, these major rehabilitation projects would not have been possible. Be sure to write to your representatives in congress to let them know how critical this program is.

Preservation presents examples of three thriving buildings that would have been lost if not for the federal historic tax credit (HTC) program.
