I Saw the Sign: A Discussion about Wayfinding, Placemaking and Experience Design

Experience design considers every aspect of how visitors to physical spaces (public spaces, campuses, museums, office buildings) understand, get around, interpret and engage.

From the signage and environmental graphics that orient us and show us where to go, to sculptural or media digital interventions that create photo-worthy or wow moments, designers working in experience design have to think about a wide host of considerations when executing design.
Hear perspectives from education, fabrication, architecture, environmental graphic design, and media design on the community and practice of Experience Design.

Hi all! I am sharing a survey for my thesis research which looks at decolonization work in museums, and how contemporary art could be included in this process.

The survey is intended for current museum professionals, and I would greatly appreciate your input! Please feel free to share with other professionals as well! The survey should take approximately 5-12 minutes.

Thanks so much for your time!

Greetings everyone!

We could use your help. Due to COVID-19 and the AAM Conference being online this year, the programs fair that has been part of the AAM Marketplace did not happen.

On Tuesday, June 23, we will be participating in a virtual museum studies programs fair with the Museum Studies Network through AAM. If you know anyone who might be interested in learning about our programs, please share this event link with them!

The virtual fair is free, and a link to pre-register is on the event page.

Thank you all for your help!

Lecture of interest: FYI: "Archeology in the Museum: Visitor Response to the NCC Archeology Exhibit", and an accompanying gallery tour, are two featured presentations taking place Saturday as part of 'Archaeology Day, 2018-'Explore Philly's Buried Past!', a day-long event highlighting the latest archaeological research from the Philadelphia area.

Seventy objects from the vast National Constitution Center site archaeological collection housed in Independence National Historical Park have been part of the “We The People” exhibit at the National Constitution Center for more than a year. A handful of these items were 3-dimensionally-scanned and then printed and painted (by Bernard Means, Director of the Virtual Curation Laboratory at Virginia Commonwealth University, and his students) to make artifact replicas that are incorporated into the new display.

Sarah Winski, Manager of Exhibit Development at the NCC, and Elena Popchock, the Exhibit Developer, will share the public’s response to the archaeology items and the archaeological replica’s that allow the public to ‘touch the past’. The talk is followed by a tour of the gallery. For the whole program schedule (and parking and directions) go to https://www.phillyarchaeology.net/celebrate-archaeology-day-explore-phillys-buried-past-2018/
