Just one week left to see "Regarding Space"! If you have yet to stop by the gallery to take in this incredible show, make sure to visit us this Thursday - Saturday from noon - 5pm.
"Regarding Space" presents the works of six accomplished artists - Michael Bartmann, Jacqueline Boyd, Francis DiFronzo, John Dowell, Scott Farrell, and Treacy Ziegler - who employ, explore and manipulate space in their compositions, sensitively rendering images of beauty and depth both real and imagined. The exhibition investigates space as a subject itself, captured and depicted through personal experience and visual memory.
Don't miss your last chance to see the striking works of "Regarding Space"!
Two weeks left! Did you see this exhibition? What I mean is, did you really SEE it? There is an element of surprise found in the details of all the works that lead to discovery of something new with each viewing. Here are some examples of unexpected relationships and details that really must be experienced in person.
Louis Strawbridge and Tami Beldue challenge that notion of paper as a fragile material. They have removed the barrier of glass and frame from the viewing experience in a way that gives strength to the material while enhancing the beauty and mystery of their subjects. They somehow manage to provide a tactile experience without having to actually touch the surface.
Bruce Samuelson and Deborah Fine create from imagination and their marks are guided by intuition. I can actually feel my eyes following the lines and getting pulled into masses then released again only to find another mark to follow. What a pleasure it is to travel through these beautiful minds.
Treacy Ziegler and Agatha Bouton are not bound to a geometric flat surface or a singular technique. The intriguing stories of how they acquired their carefully selected papers are just the starting point. Nothing is what it seems. The paper is cast, stretched, printed, painted, stitched and reassembled. They transform their material into an entirely new form never losing sight of the origins of the paper.
Donna Quinn and Nicole Michaud embrace change as a necessary step to achieve something greater. The textures and depth found in the fine detail are the result of constant and total destruction of the previous layer. Ultimately, the painting has endured many lives to achieve the final blended color and beautiful composition with hints of the past peeking through.
Julia Levitina and James Brantley share private moments of their creative thought process. What a treat it is to experience the spontaneous beauty of Julia’s drawings from the pages of her sketch book with her thou
