Artist Nancy Rosen was born on August 30, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Evanston Township High School, and in 1978 she received her BFA in painting and sculpture at the Kansas City Art Institute. Her works are mostly figurative, combining oil bars, china markers, graphite, oil paint on a variety of surfaces including gessoed paper, pieced and hand made exotic papers, linen and rice paper. The pieces feature infinite detail and layers, textures and colors. Rosen had numerous solo exhibits and has shown in a variety of settings and venues including the Kansas City Art Coalition, Elmhurst Museum, Milliken University, The Post Family, Woman Made Gallery, and the Illinois Art Institute. Her paintings have appeared in movies and on TV - most recently (2016) in the Netflix series ‘Grace and Frankie’ where her work is shown as Lily Tomlin’s creations. Rosen maintains a large studio in Chicago.
