Portraits of the Fallen Memorial

Portraits of the Fallen Memorial Honoring our Fallen Heroes from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
We are a project of the Pasadena Arts Council 501(C)(3) EMERGE program. Our intention is to raise funds to erect a permanent memorial of our fallen American service men and women. We are asking for your support to meet this mission by visiting the link provided.

This is a public art project that desires to honor and remember our fallen by developing a comprehensive educational component to supplement the designed permanent memorial. We are also developing a traveling exhibition as well as a digital memorial. This will be the first war memorial that depicts the faces, of these fine Americans , who made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.

Mission: To honor and commemorate our Fallen Heroes, from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, by establishing a memorial that identifies each service member with an artist rendering of their image.

Memorial Day is here. I say a prayer for our country as some say we've lost our way, we have forgotten those who made the ultimate sacrifice, those who volunteered to serve our country, many left our shores and never returned home. Too many have died while in service in our more recent war on covid-19. Some even have taken their own lives. We as a people must reach for the common goal of what freedom really is starting by celebrating our collective humanity.
Our service-people serve the common good, taking time to always place the least first.
Join me in as we look upon the faces of Americas Heroes.

This Memorial Day 2020 lets all take a moment to remember our Military women and men who have lost their lives while in service to our country. There is still a war in the Middle East...and our Nations Heroes are still at risk. Many of these fine Americans, members of the National Guard have volunteered to help here,on our land with the covid 19 killer virus; the tragic fact
are that many hundreds have gotten the virus and too many have died from it.

Portraits of the Fallen Memorial

Folks always ask me why the artists painted a portrait of a Fallen California Hero from the wars we are still fighting since the 9-11 attack on our country...Ive been working on a short piece to bring you some answers - from participaiting artists. While this is just a beginning, our goal, with your support, is that this short doc will lead to a long form presentation - with the voices of all of the artists....a huge goal indeed.
This project aims to connect those who have served, those who have lost a loved one, and all Amercian people to put a face on those who volunteered to serve and lost their lives in their service.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
I have began working on the Portraits of the Fallen Memorial Documentary -- this is a big endeavor, and I will need help.

There is a small budget for a camera operator, who has doc experience...even a MFA film student could work out. It would be ideal to develop a collaboration with a person(s) to see this project through.

Thanks to the VA, I have a nice camera package to work with.

Our country yearns to know the stories of those who serve and sacrificed, and the artist volunteer's who contributed. to this wonderful memorial project.

Just got your message from the 26th...not sure how I missed it. Anyway, not much good at video editing. My impulse is to reach to your fellow grads at USC and see if anyone would be interested, might make a good thesis project?
I too am proud to have worked for this most heart-felt project. I thank Sherry for creating the memorial. I especially thank the service members and their families who have sacrificed so much.
