The Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert and American Documentary Film Festival and Film Fund invite you to join us at The Galen on Saturday, June 16 at 1 p.m. for a free film screening of Vasile (23 min, Romania).
Time passes along unhurried in the small traditional Romanian village of Maramures. From the polling of the hay, to the lazy dog seeking shelter from the hot sun, peasant Vasile Oanea and his cameras find beauty in it all. Stacked wall to wall with photos and mementos, Vasile has turned his modest house into a living monument to fleeting moments.
The Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert and The American Documentary Film Festival invite you to join us at The Galen in Palm Desert on Saturday, June 9 at 1 p.m. for a free film screening of No Further Instructions, about the award winning Japanese architect Toyo Ito who designed the International Baroque Museum in Puebla, Mexico. He is well known for his majestic buildings in Europe and Asia that rise with nature-inspired geometry and complex shapes that could belong in a fantasy. Nobody knew how to build this project until a team of Mexican constructors accepted the challenge, after two years of searching for someone capable. It was necessary to invent a construction process and to improvise extraordinary solutions in order to achieve the goal in only 27 weeks.
